Once upon a time, in a certain Mexican town, some federales discovered a set bomb in the middle of town, and estimated that it would go off in ten minutes if not stopped. So they evacuated the area. It was determined that this bomb was of a type that could be extinguished by smothering, and decided that grease would be the best thing with which to smother it.
So one of the policemen ran off in search of grease or fat. He went into a cantina across the street and asked for a pot of grease. They retrieved some lard and gave it to him, but it didn't look like it would be enough for the job. Then he remembered that some people were living in the floors above the cantina, in the same building. So he ran up the stairs to the residence directly above, knocked on the door, and explained the urgency of the situation. The residents were able to come up with a small amount of tallow. The policeman ran up another flight of stairs to the residence above that, and obtained more. Finally it looked like there was enough, so he ran down both flights of stairs to the ground, and hurriedly smothered the bomb. It worked, and the bomb was put out.
So, in summary, stopping the bomb required some grease, obtained from the cantina and from apartments on the two floors above it.
And as the federales carted away the deactivated bomb, they sang: "Para parar la bomba, se necesita un poco de grasa. Ay, un poco de grasa de la cantina, y arriba y arriba."
