Thanks everyone. Jacob came home during the night last night. Will be a long recovery time . The open wounds have to stay open & heal from the inside out.Drs said if they stitch them shut that is the fastest way to get an infection. So he is on antibotics twice a day, dressing changes with wound packing twice a day. Two different drs he visits every week plus our hospitals wound clinic every week. The tibia fractures will heal fine , its the open deep wounds that were packed full of mud & corn shuck bits that we are worried about.Still pulling bits of field out with each dressing change.

How did Jacob's surgery go? Is he home now? How's he doing?

jacob's home from the hospital. Surgery lasted from 10:30 am to 1 pm & pushing iv antibotics . Leg is infected so they cut out all the tissue & stapled it together as best as they could. Do still have some gaps from not enough tissue to close it up.Still on 2 different antibotic's twice a day, 2 different drs. & the wound clinic every week.Have to keep an eye on the swelling as when it swells it pulls the staples out.Still have a long way to go & are going dr appt by dr appt. test by test, but we are getting there.Thank You God he still has his leg, at 6 ft 3 & 250 lb dr says his size has helped with all this. Thanks for the prayers & for thinking of us.

Jacob was sent back to the hospital this afternoon. Got there at4;10 & was back in surgery at 4:30.Dr took the staples out of his leg late morning , they sent him to school we picked him up from school he said look at my leg. pressure from being on it had split everything wide open. What they thought had healed on inside hadn't. so back to surgery to debrief all the inside tissue again relayer in stitches then partially close with staples. One good thing is the leg is completly numb so he didnt feel when it all came apart.

Well I'll tell ya something... this whole thing is just break'n my heart... This morning as I was praying for Jacob my eyes were full of tears. But you know, nothing escapes God's eye. We have to trust that there is something good that will come out of this, either in the present or in the furure as this ordeal is part of the shaping of Jacob...
Thank You, Father, for what you are doing for Jacob.. I ask for healing and mercy for this young man. Please strengthen his family...

Every thing on the leg is still going the same . Has a appt. with the surgeon May 29 to see if they can take out either the staples or the stitches,Dr said they wont remove both yet. Then another cat scan to see how much has healed inside. Still goes to the wound clinic & an open wound specialist dr every week. Has just finished the last of his antibotics. Will find out Tuesday if he is put on any more. He's about to go crazy not being able to go to the river with his brothers to go cat fish noodling or turtleling .Until this is healed completly over & he is released from dr care no going into the river or going to the lake.Just got the bill for the er from that day he wrecked. 16,889.$ thats just the er & the work done in there. Still have the 2 surgeries & the days in hospital bills to come yet.

My prayers for the family and for Jacob.Father, keep this family in your loving arms. Protect all of them, bless them abundantly in all ways. Let the windows of heaven be open upon them and let the blessing flow. Let financial blessing pour upon them until they say "no more Lord...our needs are met..Thank you Lord, Thank you!" I pray for peace, and calmness to flood over this momma, I ask that someone she knows, just walk up to her and give her a big hug, let her tears flow and know that healing is happining; to her and Jacob. Let her know that a lot of mom's (and dads) are praying for them all.My God can do all things.Nothing is to impossible or to big for My God

Hi just an update on Jacob's leg. He has now gotten the last of his outer stitches removed. The wound is scabbed but still draining, it is also half the size in length( 6-7 inches) it started out as.Is as wide as a middle finger & still sunk down in.The leg is still swollen & hard, dr says that is from the compartment syndrome. Dr. hopes that in about 6 weeks the wound will be completly healed. He is on antibotics again as a precaution to having stitches out & still having draining. We really appreciate the prayers and thoughts from you all thank you.

If all of our prayers and needs were met Quick Quick! Right Now! then I wonder if we would really take time to be thankful and to see the authority of God working in our lives... maybe we might just take His help for granted? When I agonize and wait and pray for an answer, and when that need is met... it always gives me pause to realize just how much mercy was (again) applied in my life and, perhaps, for someone else. Jacob has come to feel like my family, I've been carrying him in prayer for such a long time. I'm so happy for him to be on his way back to normal times... Thank You for keeping us informed of his progress... Please give Jacob a Bearhug fur me?

Just when we thought we were on the up side & just about had Jacobs leg healed we have run into a road block.Jacob goes back to the hospital tomorrow for more surgery. When he was drying off from his shower today , the towel ripped off part of the scab on his leg. That was a very good thing because it showed that under the scab was all infected.Went to his surgeon & he set up surgery for tomorrow to cut out all the infection that is under where the scab was . He will also be removing the rest of the scab that is still there to see if infection is under it to.Jacob will be back on iv antibotics as it looks like the pill kind arent working. So it is back to stitches in layers & staples again.

Thyme... Please tell Jacob that there are folks here who are not forgetting that he's going thru such difficult times. We think about him and pray for him and care for him and his family... Will you please tell him that a Bear has adopted him into her heart? I just wonder what he thinks and how his faith is as he faces all of this mess. For one so young it must be overwhelming...
Well, I'm not going to forget Jacob or believe any less in God's grace in our lives...
Father, bless and keep this young one. Please, heal his body and let this trial in his life bring glory to Your name...
amen

Jacob went to the dr for a check up today. The leg is still infected. 2 spots the size of a nickel ( & slowly growing bigger ) that tunnel down inside the leg from the front through into the calf.Dr wanted another round of antibotics & i told him no . He has been on all different kinds since the accident happened the day after Easter. The antibotics we can see arent working any more.Every couple of weeks they put an iv in and run a super dose of mixed antibotics then the next morning take out the iv & he is on pill antibotics. He goes back to the dr the morning of the 29th then from there to hospital for more debrieffing surgery. So I have from today until the 29 to see if I can get the leg to clear up using what my granma taught me.Dr said as long as they can keep the infection out of the leg bone they can keep debriefing the leg.

I was just thinking about Jacob earlier and wondering how he was getting alone.
I agree in trying your gramma's remedy, but if it doesn't start to heal, I would sure get him back on the antibiotics so it wouldn't get too badly infected.
I'll keep him my prayers.... and the rest of you for your strength.

Thyme, Jacob is in my prayers also. Pray & listen to your inner feelings. God sometimes tells us what to do to help. Try to build up his immune system. Lots of vitamin C, some Acidophilus, maybe some colloidal silver. Please pray about my suggestions before you try them. I want God's will to be done.
Praying for you & Jacob.

Jacob went back to the dr on the 29th. He did not have to go to the hospital for debrieffing. Dr numbed leg in his mini surgery room & partially cleaned out the holes. The measurement of the 2 infected areas has not gotten bigger & dr says you can see a marked improvement. He is back on an antibotic pill again but i am to keep on doing what i'm doing to his leg. He goes back to dr again next thursday for him to recheck. So am praying he is finally on the mend for good. Thank you all for all of these months of thoughts & prayers.

Hi all just an update on Jacob's condition. Had 2 dr appt. this morning , 1 at his surgeon's & the 2nd at the hospitals wound clinic. Both places have released him from any further medical care by them. He still has compartment syndrome & will for a long time to come but that is to be handled by our family dr.It has been a very very long 5 months. All tests came back with no further infection, all scabs are off , & wound areas are starting to fill in with healthy tissue. Thank you so much for all the months of thoughts & prayers.

I Peter 5:6-11
6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Thyme, If you are here reading.. my heart is heavy with grief for the loss of Jacob. I've had ya'll in my prayers, and in my thoughts these last few days.
We have been coming here since April of '09 giving news, reading updates, praying on the most current needs, praising God.. on our knees before Him asking for grace and mercy.. hearts reaching out of Compassion towards one another. Your heart began this work of Love...
Now, we are left to accept that God's ways are not our ways. He told us this in His word.
The Scripture at the top of this post tells us something we must never forget. As we live these difficult days that are our lives.. It's not going to be an easy Journey. This past year was a good example of that. But in verse 10 it is written:
"10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."
We are not Home yet. This isn't Paradise. This is our proving ground. This is where we are on the anvil, being shaped.. forged.. showing how true we are made inside. The difficult things, the blessings, the suffering, the joys, the time on our knees.. lead us Home. Home is where there are no more tears, or disappointments, pain, or unhappy hearts. Home is where we will come together before our Father. There will be Joy unspeakable.. all tears dried, all sorrows washed away..
We know this in our heads, we must establish God's Word in our hearts so that we can navigate thru these lives of ours to get there.
I told God a long time ago that no matter what comes my way.. no matter what I lose, no matter what hammers me down.. I will Love Him. I'm going Home.
I pray that the Holy Spirit ministers to your hearts, and that you are able to find your way to peace.. the Peace that passes all understanding.. through the Lord Jesus..
Bearhugs, Thyme.
Be Strong
~Grizzy~
Upon the Journey Path we tread
We happened upon a place
where we did meet a soul so sweet
yet never saw his face..
Because of him we searched God out
asking for mercy and grace
together we prayed and waited
and God was in our midst..
The season of wait is over
The Father has closed a door
We begged to keep our Jacob
But God said.. "I love Him more"..
Help us, Lord, to see that in this place where You have our son.. He is resting. He can run and not be weary, and has no need for tears to be wiped away. Thank You for the Comforter, who heals our hearts, and gives us courage.
Amen
