There is more to this...in a good way.
The Celestine Prophecy was written years ago and the spiritual philosophy behind all of this is simply quite the opposite of 'most' religious themes.

The People that started this world prayer are the writers of the Celestine Prophecy. The same titled movie just came out this year, also. These Folks are simply doing something they believe matters to help change all the focus on all of the negative happenings around the world and particularly in the middle east. The people that come together over the phone with this specific spiritual cause are focusing on alleviating the all too common pedaled strife and hate. They are countering something bad with something good "out in the open" for the first time in real time when these things have gone on to the degree they are going on. And they simply believe what they are doing is doing something good.

They are not asking for contributions...they are not working to get the phone charges running...they are working to gather together people of every race, creed, belief and background for a spiritual moment to do something different for a change to make change for the good.

And You accept it or You do not.
You do not have to be on the "live" phone gathering to be a part of this energy. It is being done to simply do something to make a "focused" difference. And as far as I am concerned....it certainly is better than most anything else that is talked about as a solution...and no action.

I personally believe that a spiritual solution is the solution.

It is the opposite thought process of divide and hate.

I believe it is quite the other way around.

What You posted above is exactly what is already going on in most government/political/religious realms as we know them. "Unproductive cult-like direction" is what their hidden agendas are all about...and they are not going to hide that agenda much longer.

I have stayed on this site and continue to post of things going on around us of primary importance to me because, to me, it is only a matter of time before more and more good people simply change their thought process 'just a bit' and what they pay attention to 'quite a bit' and the "direction" of things will change right before our eyes.
Inaction is the place we have to move from...for it is each of our own actions that matter the most. Actions entirely opposite of what is pedaled as "what you should do" by those that have gotten away with coercing the general populace into a fear corner of inaction and allowing the wrong people to remain "in" action.

Your thoughts here are leading to what it is I am bringing out. If You knew my 'general' approach, as most here do...You would know that what You are presenting is what I am about. Decision/Action/Change. It is laced in most all of my posts regarding current affairs and what we can do...and we CAN do something, even though most have been led to believe we cannot by "cult-like unproductive" coercion that has been accepted for too long, in my opinion.

The spiritual energy I speak of IS an energy of action...that is the whole point. It is an energy that moves away from "Us against Them" in any form...and moves to "Us for Us"!

And I do not know about You, but I , personally, will always have food, shelter and security...because I will always have food, shelter and security. These physical things are right there in all of our lives and we all already have access to all we need...it is the distortion of "need" and the distortion of "security" that causes us to believe we cannot be secure. We fill that need by believing it IS filled...and we act accordingly.

That is Spirituality.

Came back to continue before heading out. I am 'engaged' here for a reason.
The important matter that has been brought forth from this talk of ours is this...and it is not new...but entirely opposite of what most are taught. And I have mentioned it before.
The thought process of "putting the cart before the horse" IS the thought process of action and change. It is the thought process by those that wish to control our lives know that if we embrace and live this thought process their control mechanisms will simply become non-entities.
This celestine prayer project is putting out an energy of change by thinking and believing(together) that that change is taking place in a focused effort. It is putting the cart before the horse. Anything that comes about progressively comes about by this phenomena. And WE can create that positive momentum together. And the "action" of that momentum will take hold. A little secret that really isn't a secret but is what the powers that be would prefer we not ever "tune into" together for the good of change in real time.
OK...enough from me this morning.
I am going to work to physically "build" something for a client that I have already "created" in my mind. Now there's that "cart before the horse"...we all have that inherent ability to put to use in real time. If more of us put that to use together there will be change in real time.

While I am not even slightly familiar with the group Eagle is talking about I have experienced the power of prayer in my own life. I believe that spirituality is about a personal relationship between God and his children.

I realize that you have not experienced what I am talking about and so I may as well be talking about UFO's as far as you are concerned. However, let me share my own personal experience and offer another angle that you may want to try viewing this topic from. If you think I'm just full of BS fine print it out and use it to blow your nose...whatever.

First my personal experience....I grew up in "the 93rd trailer of some trailer park" to a Mom with a C average 9th grade education who had 6 children by age 25. I know this already sounds like a classic white trash story but really my mom was a sweet person who loved us and worked very hard to do the best she could for us. My Mom's life was a series of hardknocks she had no control over and bad choices she made (as it generally is for all of us). Later we picked up an abusive step father to complete the package. We were very poor....I didn't even know that there were brands that weren't generic and didn't get to a dentist for the first time until I was a teenager....so I know the life you are describing. However, spirituality--more specifically prayer is where I found the strength to improve my life. Those nightly talks with my God are what got me through those times...they are also what kept me from getting involved in things that would have landed me in the 94th trailer with no education and a bunch of kids I couldn't take care of. The more I prayed the closer I felt drawn to God and at 14 I started going to Church on my own. Between the folks at my Church and my friends and their parents I had lots of folks that cared about me. My whole life has been filled with people that wanted to help me....they didn't give me anything outright but instead gave me opportunities to help myself. Because they knew me and liked my attitude and knew that I didn't steal or do drugs if they needed a job done or something I'd often get asked. I would always make sure that I didn't let them down. The woman that would end up being my mother in law helped me get a car and let me stay with her while I went to nursing school I still had to work to pay for the car and insurance or course but she gave me an opportunity to do something that I couldn't have done otherwise....and it wasn't' because she felt guilty it was because she wanted to help out someone else who had had it rough like she did. Now I live a nice middle class life...no I don't feel guilty but I do have a sensitivity to those in need and a true gratitude that comes from knowing that my prayers were answered. I know I have been blessed....yes I did work hard for it...but I realize that the opportunity to work hard is a blessing from above. Not only can those that helped me out as a kid count on me for anything, anytime I am always asking God to show me were he wants me to help...who he wants me to help.

So Scottie my point is I didn't get everything I needed to be happy and comfortable then started looking into spirituality...rather prayer/spirituality took me to the place where I could be content and see the hope for the future.

Now even if you believe everything I just had to say is religious hog wash and you don't buy it for a second....try looking at it from a physiological point of view...even if you don't believe that prayer is open communication with God (which I do) can you still not see the benefit in going over your situation in your head everyday and asking (even if you believe it's just yourself) how you can make things better for yourself without hurting others? Do you not believe that all action starts in the form of thought?

As a nurse I am familiar with Mazlow's Hierarchy of Needs....and while I agree, if a person is starving to death until you give them food they aren't going to be open to hearing about your religion, I don't believe that a relationship with God can only begin once you have everything you want/need materially. I know for me the opposite was true, That spiritual connection is what empowered me to brake the cycle. It was in fact the most practical thing I could, and still do.

Scottie, on some of your thoughts I could not agree more. My father was involved in a cult when I was a small child. Let me just say that my Dad is by no means simple, ignorant or unintelligent. In fact he is extremely smart. But this group seemed to offer something that he had never experienced growing up....love. This group sucked people in by making them feel wanted and accepted and then used them....the leader was constantly having "visions" and being told by god that it was okay for him to do this or that....the this and that was always something that was the polar opposite of Jesus' teaching and Biblical principle. And it always stood to only benefit this one man....the leader. Yeah, Scottie I despise people like that too. That is one reason I didn't go to Church much at all until I was a teenager. It took me a long time to realize that, that group was NOT what God was really about.

Having not experienced the personal relationship that I am talking about I can't expect you to really know what I mean. It's kind of like trying to explain the Grand Canyon or the Northern Lights....no amount of description, pictures, or explaining can make a person really understand what it's like to be there. So I will just say that I disagree with the statement "The latter without the former is even more productive" and that "No, it wasn't just warm fuzzies" and leave it at that.

Yes people helped me....very much so. A corner stone of true Christian faith is people helping each other. Had I not already been in that relationship with God I don't think things would have worked out the same. I say this because the 3 siblings I grew up with have also been offered help time and time again and have all chosen a destructive lifestyle instead.

I would describe myself as middle class and I would describe myself as happy. However, I've been happy much longer than I've been middle class. Am I so naive as to think that people don't need to have physical needs met to be happy? No. People tend to want to go to one extreme or the other on this topic. On one hand you've got those that think that anyone with money is evil and greedy and that true spirituality only lies in poverty....on the other hand you've got those that think anyone whose poor must not have enough faith. Both are BS.

While some poverty is the consequence of wrong doing and some prosperity is the result of blessings for faithfulness, we've all seen the opposite be true. There are poor out there that are victims of things they could not control and there are well off folks out there that acquired everything they have at the expense of others.

As a Christian and someone who studies the Bible I can tell you that Jesus identifies himself with the poor. Rather than laps into a full sermon I would ask you to read for yourself Matthew 25: 34-45....to sum it up Jesus is basically saying that those who with held food and drink from the poor may as well have with held it from him and they will not me accepted.

I understand your frustration at seeing people that claim to be "spiritual" but have no concern for those with less. I feel the same frustration....perhaps even more so because uncaring people that claim to be Christians, paint the whole faith in a negative tone. Yeah, it makes us look bad and that sucks but even worst it keeps people from wanting to learn about true Christianity.

I have known and still know some very wonderful, caring, giving (but not perfect) Christians. But as a whole I think we've become complacent and callous to the needs of those around us, and if the Bible is correct (as I believe it is) then we are greatly disappointing the God we claim to serve.

To comment of your post with Eagle....I do believe Eagle is right...we do have everything we need already....This Earth provides us with everything we need....food, the means for shelter etc....the problem I see is that the government is constantly trying to convince us that it isn't ours. I will admit health care is one of those issues that I struggle with....in my perfect world everyone works hard and helps each other out when a true need arises. We all know that my perfect world isn't the one we live in, though!! The main reason for most of our health care needs is the crap that we eat....I'm not saying that it's the person's fault that they are sick, rather it's all the garbage that has been put in our food supply. It seems everyone is sick now a days, or will be sick eventually. And now health care is so ridiculously expensive that no uninsured person can afford it. I realize that there are sick people right now that need medical attention....but I think the only long term solution to our health problems is to go after big agriculture and the companies that manufacture all the hormones and garbage that is put into our food....

I am not being vague and ambiguous. These things I speak of are as real and tangible to me as these words I am typing that you can see and read.
When I express the thought process of "the cart before the horse" what I mean specifically is that we basically ready that cart and fill that cart with any goods that will allow change and progress for us in our own lives even if we do not have the horse or access to the horse or any idea where the horse is to come from to pull the cart forward to make that progress happen...we simply continue to fill the cart as though the horse will be there...and the horse will be there. In other words...a way will always be provided to accomplish our hopes and aspirations if we simply believe a way will always be provided and we act accordingly. Work towards a goal even though all the pieces are not in place believing the pieces will be placed and it will happen.
This has all been discussed quite a while ago in here in the past. Each of the members here that joined in the discussion simply gave their own experiences that confirmed what I was bringing out. It isn't talked about all that often...and maybe it should be more often.
The free market has and can work much that way if left alone to work that way. If enough of us work together in the free market as though it is left alone to work its own progress...it will be left alone to work its own progress...in our own lives and those around us.
The energy of progress cannot be interfered with if enough of us work that energy of progress as though it cannot be interfered with.
Now, I will be specific. What is going on in the world around us is being done to interfere with the energy of progress I talk about
because those that want to control every aspect of this are losing their grasp. They cannot and will not control any of it if we simply progress together as though they are irrelevant...because they are irrelevant if we simply continue to move forward without giving credence to their manufactured stagnation. They purposely create dilemmas to sidetrack our progress and to enhance their control.

Spirituality is a dimension they cannot and will not ever interfere with...because they cannot. They cannot stop what we can create through this dimension if enough of us simply choose to create through this dimension. The only thing that stagnates the spiritual process is the 'sidetracking' of our own thoughts of progress with dilemmas that are only as real as they are able to convince us they are real. Spirituality can and will negate that. And it is happening. This spiritual world prayer gathering is one of the ways, imho.

You said you would not discuss religion on this forum. I do not discuss religion. Religion is one of the foremost arenas they perform in to create dilemmas of stagnation to interfere with our own inherent spirituality, period. The deceit of government and religion is not working anymore...because we are deciding not to allow it to work 'on us' anymore.
