i know most i see post on singles sites, are younger than me.and most who arent want nothing to do with homesteading.they want to travel,be into the town scene.yes i have lived both lives, just hate the town life.i was married 45 yrs, most of that was living the backwoods life.now after my husband died 2 yrs ago in dec, people think im nuts and to old to live this life.i have hogs, chickens, rabbits, dogs,an acre in garden.ect.i have been on some other singles sites,oh, theres singles there all right, wanting to travel, dace, all that stuff, but country living,HAHA.i have been reading on here, and out of curiousity, just was wondering how many men, women are in there 60s,looking for someone they can connect to?i do agree with many here who dont want to move,or are cautious.i think people need to get to know each other before jumping in.but i do believe some can have happy endings if given a chance.i just know there are a lot of lonely people out there in todays world.i hope the best for all of you.p.s you hear of a man who not scared of dirt, dogs, cats or any other critters we have in the backwoods, has a sense humor, dont mind work, send him my way.

Yup...
I know exactly what you mean!
I'm 57 and there's just no one around my age that wants to live outside of town, much less further than a couple miles from a starbucks! Worse yet, they absolutely must be CLOSE to a walmart store!
Guess I'll get me a dog for a companion!

hello photographer:im still hear once in awhile.been real busy with all this white stuff coming down!i can really understand hard it is to find someone compatable, most people think once you hit 55-60 you just quit living.not me,i cant find anyone who is interested in me,let alone a little thing called work.i tell anyone i got some pigs, and am going to get a boar this spring, they look at me like im nuts.i have this strage thing called liking to eat.and selling the rest.all the men i have looked at on some sites, in our age group all they want is to travel,go to towns ect.i guess im just different.if this economy keeps getting worse, they might have to revise their way of thinking, boy, wouldnt that be funney to watch.

You know somethin'?
I cannot begin to get it through some peoples heads,
that hunger is one serious motivational thing they cannot overcome.
Yet, they simply refuse to see the light at the end of that long black tunnel, that is in actuality a freight train, and it's coming directly at them!
I have found few people have ever gone without a meal, and even fewer ever knew hunger!
I'm "Old-School" and was brought up to understand these things by my grandmother, that lived thru the depression, with 8 or 9 kids!
I've found that work, especially hard physical work , builds character....
Not to say there are NO characters out there, just the WRONG kinds!

photographer, i really like the way you think.i find the same thing with people, they really dont get it.most people, and allmost all of the young people are so spoiled, that when hard times hit they will be lost.i have been asked in the past to teach homesteading to town folk, haha,if that isnt a joke.mainly all they were interested in was the fanciest oil lamp money could buy, then gag when they thoughtthey might have to use a out house, let alone butcher a chicken or hog.i have got to where i stay to myself a lot,i just dont relate to a whole lot of people anymore.they think im nuts, and i think their crazy!oh well must be im getting older.

hello all. I have not been here for a while until today. I see there are a few older folks (i'm 60+) and that's good in my book. One thing that might help get the conversations going is if you put your state in your profile.

I can't relate to that since I haven't really been in a good snow storm, since I left Colorado!
Thye tell me I can't even find my land I'm buying, as it's snowed in some 3-4 feet, but it may melt in a week or so!
Living in Phoenix has ruined me, as the heat is unbearable, and I need cooler weather, and at least more than 1 season!
Up north I am told I'll have all 4!
Wow, who knew?
