new to the forum, and thought I'd give it a try...
33, single, have my own homestead with sheep, a cow, chickens, halfway to a barn, ninety percent of a house, indoor plumbing, great sense of humor and a duck. *Looking for someone with similar interests, ability to run a chainsaw, and general knowledge of how to butcher a turkey. *I spin, knit, weave (kinda) make my own soap/cheese/bread, shear my own sheep, and just saved up enough to buy a great woodburning cookstove! *Also a classical musician in my spare time (ha!)

I'm a female, by the way, and tend to prefer males...

Thanks...I like to think so!

any other SF out there with stories on going it alone? I never thought I'd be facing this solo, and I get overwhelmed sometimes with all the stuff that needs to get done. Ever notice it takes 5 times longer to do something with one less person? ex. putting up a shed with no-one to hold or "hand me the" makes one quite creative about propping stuff up to nail it together! Same with drywalling solo...

cheers!

You would have laughed you buns off watching me "trying" to install a chimney for my wood burner alone.. LOL (it wasn't fun, btw) :P

I had 3 sections of 6" pipe together, stuck straight up in the air, trying to get an elbow on it.. WOW! I waited until I could get a friend to give me a hand. I just couldn't do it! I'm sure it would have been a winner on "The Worlds Funniest Videos".. HeHe

:) Oh I know the feeling.... I currently homestead alone. The work never ends. Try to fit a date in seems impossible. When he realizes that your a homesteader the intimidation sets in. Most men I meet in VA just can't handle a true homestead women with class. Some advice... Love what you do and Always enjoy Life!

Happy Homesteader

The saw is not a Stihl, but it will cut wood.....some trees I have to cut on both sides, to get through them, but I get the job done. *8)

How about you, do you know how to can veggies? I plan on a big garden, going to have to do something with all those vegetables *;) Oh, and making homemade bread is a must. :P

Yes..know how to can veggies. ::)....already have a big garden and grow more than I need so am planning on selling the excess through the farmers market and local restraunts.
I make darn good bread too...Bad thing is that I eat it! :D Hot bread straight from the oven is so good!

Yes, my mom use to get so made at us boys, we would eat most of the bread and/or cin. rolls as soon as they came out. Not good for the waist line, but sure tastes good. :P
Now I have to settle for the fresh baked french bread at Albertsons :(

It is very theraputic to make bread, the old fashioned way..now there are machines that do it but I hate all those shiny appliances that suck up power and make all that noise..give me peace and quiet..window open :) so I can hear the ocean while I cook something I grew..
No Albertson's here..no Wal Mart either ;D

I use to "try" to make Home made bread, but I could never get it to raise like mom could, so I gave up. The loafs she made had more bread above the pan than in it. Glad to see some are still doing it the old fashioned way......but then, here I suffer with out. *:'(
