A couple of weeks ago, we brought home "Trip", who was a single lamb whos momma didn't really care about him. He wasn't even one day old when he came to live with us, but weighed in at about 11 lbs. No way was he even going to settle for the 3-4 oz that most day olds would struggle to down in a feeding! This guy was doing 8 oz four times a day from the start. At almost 1 1/2 weeks now, he is quite demanding that he get 12-14 oz and would take more if I let him.
Here's the smart part-we've kept him in in a large dog kennel in the house at night, and recently started putting him in a enclosure in the garage during the day, but he has the run of the kitchen area (sometimes sneaks into the living room) in the evenings when we are home.
Last night I couldn't find him-spent 10 minutes checking the house, started wondering. Finally I looked into the kennel. There he was, all curled up snoozing, well, like a lamb! He had bumped the door open and gone in to take a nap. He repeated it tonight when I told him it wasn't time for his bottle. Who said sheep are dumb??
He runs around with the dog when we are outside, and torments the cats something awful. He's going to be like another dog, and we are going to be in big trouble come 4-H auction time! Anybody need a steady supply of wool??
