I'm 21, and I often notice that I'm just about the youngest pup around here. Am I wrong? Are there others my age lurking around? Better yet, any single women my age (or older that can be comfortable with my age around? *shrugs* Guess I'll find out :)

BUT
Someone get this Kid a date. That's exactly what you need Ryan :) a good 'ol country girl to do right by you !!
(One with her own farm would be perfect, except I'll bet she'd need some help werkin that farm.. Be a good educational expierience for you.... the girl & the farm)
Wish U Luck Bud
But @ 21 U shouldn't Need it.
Yer a Stud Boy, Get out in that Pasture & find yerself a heiffer !!

Ryan, please forgive him... or consider the source... :D ;D ;D
You see, studs and mares go together and heifers go with the bull of the woods. Guess DV8 is a good moniker for that source there...
Sad, sad, sad... especially since there aren't that many woods near me and there sure is a lot of bull here in my post... :D ;D ;D
Joking aside... Yes, I do agree that the young'uns are taking over. But that isn't bad. That is what you folks are supposed to do...
As far as actually trying to help you out, back in the days of the dinosaur we checked out sunday school mixers for potential gals we wouldn't mind being around. But, then again, I met my taw at square dance lessons so get-togethers for things you enjoy might also be a possibility.
Knew she was the one as she poured coffee on me, accidently of course. And, it didn't hurt that she didn't say much when Big Bro and I decided to chase a skunk with the car on the way back to taking her and him home. He wasn't Big Bro back then - just a little shaver...
Wish you luck out there. I'm too old to remember anything much.

Haha both of you gave me a good laugh. I found some farmersonly datin site thing... but, most of those girls just see some 'city boy' whent hey see my profile. So what if I live in the 'burbs... that doesn't mean anything other thant he fact I"m a victim of circumstance! hehe.
to be quite honest, all the small town girls I met who were around 21 looked at someone not from there as special.
Thats the way it is. country kids drean of the city & city kids dream of the country. This especially true of those unable to goto college, who see themselves as "stuck" in the same hometown where they have lived all their lives.
Knowin this tidbit of info, ya may wanna play the "city boy been lots of places" role, & ya may have better luck.
Hope ya Hook up no matter.

I consider myself part of the younger audience. I am 29 and not male. :P
Peace,
Consider what your immediate goal is?
If its just "hooking up" , then play what ever role you need, to accomplish endeavor.
Eventually "mackin the booty" gets old so....
On the other hand, if your looking to find miss perfect match, so to speak. Then I assure you the worst thing you can do is lie to yourself or/and her.
Be who you are, and do not force yourself to be otherwise to get the girl, you will regret it. Do not let her change herself to suit your needs either.
Your best chance for a successful match is to do the things you really are passionate about, and find like minded females doing the same things.
21 ahhh, seems like yesterday. Good luck and good hunting.

I am female, 24 yo and I live in Central AR. I have yet to meet anyone in my immediate age group that is even the least bit interested in homesteading.
I was starting to wonder if they even exist. :)
Peace
They are around I am sure, the more you delve into this subject of self reliance the more of them you'll encounter.
Love and Light ?
After many years of marriage and children I find myself amongst the ranks of bachelor's. Who would have thought it.

I am happily 36yrs old. My 30's have been the BEST years of my life. Got rid of the exbf, I've met some good people, changed career$, bought my 10 acres that Im so happy about, about to get me a truck....I mean things look alright.
But.....
...Good men are still hard to find let alone one that even knows what homesteading is. Most guys these days like convenience and who doesnt, but everyone seems to want a nice house in the city "like the Jones'" paying and arm and a leg for a 10'x10' yard or no yard, no outside privacy, want to be where "everyone else is" or close to the stores because living out in the country is just too far away or too boring. Pfffft!!!!! People tell me that Im not like all the other girls. I tell them "Well i dont want to be like all the other girls." I like to know that I can be self sufficient cause you never know what can happen and you cant depend on people all the time especially in a time of need.
What happened to all the single country boys?

There are still some of us good guys who are interested in homesteading out there but we are hard to find sometimes but the internet has made finding us a little easier. I hope all of you find that special someone. I know in my area it was almost impossible to find women interested in homesteading but with the web the chances are better.

That's true about younger people. I don't really know anybody my age that cares about being agrarian. I know a few who talk about it and like the idea of it but they always say, "well maybe one day". I guess, you pay for what you get.

I may be young, but every single person I knew in school is now married, and about 3/4 of them have kids.

Ryan it must be the part of the country you live in. I know quite a few young people your age (my oldest is 24 and I work with quite a few.) The majority of the young men I know here figure they will not get married until they are in their late twenties and early thirties. Not such a bad plan..it gives you time to get established in life..and know what you want..just some thoughts from and ....older woman.. ;D ;D

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying its a bad thing....just the only problem with getting married in your late 20s or early 30s (here it seems like women are more likely to get married in thier mid 30s) is you will not get to watch you grand children grow up. Grandparents helping with the kids have a large, large influence on the kids. Grandpa and grandma are usually are of the no nonsence type and always known for doing the right thing, and the grand kids see this. Now...if you get married and have your first child at 35 and that child has a child at 30-35, that will make grandpa/grandma (providing they are the same age) around 65-70 when the grand child is born. I remember when grandparents were around for the grandchilds wedding. But then I'm in the same boat as todays kids, when my oldest is 35 I'll be 61........The men in my family don't make it much past 70 and some of there don't make it that long. Just a thought.
See thats why I'm anxious... the men in my family live shorter lives each generation. My dad was dead by 50.

Howdy! 25 (ugh...26 in 2 weeks...i almost forgot, damn.) Female.
Currently living in Western MA in a State Forest, doing trail work throughout the state! Love living outside, hugging trees, and staying adorable through the efforts of hard labor! Amazing what slingin double jacks and movin boulders all day does for one's body!
Brand new here, thanks to miss Cybele (what a beauty!) Cool that this forum is here. Nice to meet ya!

Welcome!! I envy your job, I love working in the forest.
I'm 21, and a mechanic in the Marines. With a little luck I'll be bush flying or fixing out in the middle of nowhere. I think it's kind of funny, despite all my traveling I have yet to find a person who is even remotely interested in do-it-yourself, let alone homesteading. It seems like everyone who is shows their face here and that's it :P
And I second that the BHM forum is the second best thing since the grain mill.
Be seeing you ;)
