I have alot of my information stored as pdf files. I was thinking that a pda or palm pilot would be a good way to carry them and easy to access. Does anyone out there do this? Any suggestions best-worst. I thought the "recon" was really cool but pricey.

Thanks!

I used to use my Palm for everything; calendar, flight and reservation information, whole .pdf files, etc. the only problem is that their life span is only about two years max, then the data corrupts, links won't work to back up on the computer or download more, etc. I have tried several different types but finally gave up on them...

IMHO - Best and longest lasting is still - print it out, put it in a binder inside plastic sheets!

I recommend the Apple iPod touch. honesty, I used these as the pda's for my tech crew and we love them.

It's not a PDA, but the Sony PRS-505. It's an e-book reader that uses E-Ink, the display looks just like a real page. I've had mine for a while now, I love it. And the battery life is amazing, it will last for 7,500 page turns. The reason it's rated in page turns is because the only time it uses power is when you turn a page.

Hey Raven, what do you think about the kindle or the upcoming kindle2? I have been thinking about an ereader for a couple months now... but cant quite make up my mind.

The first ereader I looked at wasthe kindle, needless to say I didn't buy it.

I didn't like the feel of it, it's made of plastic. The buttons on the side are a royal pain, you can't pick the thing up without hitting at least one of them. It's also hard to hold it while reading without hitting the paging buttons. It's ugly as sin, not that it would have mattered to me if everything else was kosher.

Like I said I have the PRS-505, and I love it.

It's made of metal, which gives it a much better feel. The buttons are better, you wont hit buttons by accident. It's better at displaying PDF files, just resize to fit. You can also rotate the screen, something the kindle can't do. The display is better than the kindle, the kindle is kind of a grey. While the 505 still has some grey, it's a lot less grey than the kindle. And well it just looks better, if that kind of thing matters to you.

I can't comment on the software, I don't use it. I use an open source program for converting my PDF's and other documents. I also can't comment on the stores, I don't use them either. I download PDF e-books and convert them for use.

Ya, I didn't say anything about the kindle 2 because I have not even really looked at it.
