I was on another forum the other day. I read a post by someone looking to get grants and subsity for a hobby farm. As someone who is agg for a profit, I first ask why tax money should pay for his/her hobby
I then politly expressed that such dipping into the gov was only bad for business and if we were to fix our world, we need to do on our own.

The sight changed my words in a big way, then posted 20 such links to Uncle Sam's loan shark.

Have any of you been on forums were they change your posts to line up with the views of the forum owners?

Not necessarily changed my words, but definitely didn't like what I had to say about things and the owner. According to these people, Ted Nugent can do or say no wrong. I left it after 4 years when it turned into a pay-per-view site.

Change my words?

Never. That is BEYOND tacky!

Roasted me for my words?

Of course.

By the way, the term "Hobby farm", where I live, often refers to a commercial enterprise also. A "Hobby farm" is simply much, much smaller than the 1000 -5000 acre grain farms that are so popular here.

I like the term "Mini Farm" myself, but it is not the word that people use out here.

I do not consider it a hobby farm when folks are getting a $10,000 to $15,000 profit, as some of the farmers marketers do. It is a part-time business. But, it is called a hobby farm.

Oh, ok, I know the site you're referring to. Personally, I can listen to Ted Nugent for about three seconds and I want to scream.

I've never had it happen on a forum because they didn't like what I said. I have had a friend who was a moderator do it just to give me a hard time.

I agree with the fact that if they make 15,000 it's a small business.. yea that's true..and Hobby farm is like saying Hobby parrent.. weather your making money or not, you have animals that depend on you.

Those people are also like urbanites with 10 acres. They have tons of land and think that just cuz they have some horses and a chicken they can be called farmers....um ok what do you produce? Then if you were not like they were, they would change what you said so that you sounded like another Lemming. It ticks me off becouse that's putting words in my mouth as a way of selling something.

*Once I told them that I let my dogs run free and they all flipped out called me stupid. Another time, they said that the country needed more restrictions....they totaly didn't get the consept of independece. to them it's like cow wall paper, they like the idea..but they don't understand the root or the end result.

ted is a little out on the far side, but I once listened to a radio show where he had a debait with some hollywood types and sounded very very smart, and I don't realy like his music. *The key was that you could not see his wild looks. *I think much of what he says is just old radio shock value to get you to look at him.

I used to be on a forum that censored your speech depending on who you are.

How so? I'm looking at other places as well, asking the same question and I might not do any forums any more if they are just about promoting products sold by the person who started the forum.

I wouldn't stay on any forum that censored my speech...

And I HATE the term "hobby farm." Some folks have called me that and I quickly correct them to "homesteader." Then they start asking questions and I start giving them J.Bellenger's philosophy of homesteading..

I always tell them that if I am covered with chicken and goat manure, it's freezing cold, and I still have two hours of outside work to do, that is definately NOT a hobby!

No. I have no use for the man. For someone who is constantly mouthing off about how gung ho and patriotic and manly he is, when it came time for the rubber to meet the road, he ran away like the little sissy he really is.
Just google "Ted Nugent draft dodging".
I hope the guy who had to go in his place made it.

HHmmm I look at that two ways.

eather it's true, in that case...I'll think of him as a siner who found the light and has changed his ways like some reformed drunk.

or's it's rummor...another story by the left wing folks to get us to fight....ya know like they fight. ;)

Look under military on this guy....what a class act.

"I got 30 days' notice of the physical," Nugent told them. "I ceased cleansing my body. Two weeks before the test I stopped eating food with nutritional value. A week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. My pants got crusted up." [6]

ok, so he's an old rockstar... I'm totaly on your side with that, but at the same time, he's got way more $$$ than I do. I've turned away from even watching that sort of stuff..like why do I care what some movie star thinks about the popular fight of the day...save the whales or whatever. Those sorts of distractions are what distracts you when they try to tax your firearms. Yuo let them pin you underfire. Then flank you.

Any who..that forum still has blocked me. I told them I thought they had an agenda..and clearly all the answers to the questions are posted by people who are not who they say...and the answers are products/sponcors in the mag they sell...they had one person who said they were going to buy land and asked how to get started farming...I told them to get a Agg business plan together....the poster didn't know what that was.....scary since in his first post he SAID he was a business consultant. A business plan is business freshmen year 101. Fishy Fishy

...oh and I said Hobby farming was an Oxymoron... (like saying hobby parenting, you are now responcible for animals and can't just put them away like sewing project)
They thought I called them MORONS...um, don't you think the editer of a mag should know what an Oxymoron is????? ;D

Yep

And a priceless thread coming from one of the bigger frauds I've encountered. But I get off topic and this will most likely get deleted also.

I think that as the internet has become available to the least common denominator of population, the quality of any forum has suffered. It's too bad. Time to take up crochet. ;-)

Yes. (Along with other insulting posts by many other people.) My post above in this thread was before that. So now everyone here cannot claim censorship superiority on this board compared to others.

Your snide, wagging finger in this thread was unnecessary, as you already made your position known elsewhere.

Ok, let's settle down now. Everybody take a deep breath, go to opposite corners of the room and press their ignore buttons.

I'm a Fraud? *Well Deb, your entitled to your point of view.
But whatever you choose to say...
*take note, your posts are not changed to sell or endorse a product or promote a political point of view for wealth or power. Your words are not twisted to make it seem you or others like you feel or do things in a certain way to aline you with a product, endorcement or idea.

Some forums as of late do just that. It seems unfair to change the words of those who express ideas or views for the gain of whatever rhetoric or propaganda the host wishes to peddle.

:) Have a great day Deb :)

I want to kick this back out for the new folks. This morning I had a chat with an IT person I use. He told me this happens often. Folks with forums and chat rooms, making it look like the masses are using a product or making it look like the masses are thinking a given way.

It's like when Lincoln paid people to sit in diffrant places and talk him up as if they were just an every day person. Forums should be a place to mind your speach yes, but to have your thoughts changed or removed becouse the sponcers of the forum are selling something is below the belt.
