Hello all,
First, I am not a newbie to computers and the internet, I consider myself fairly experienced. But I am a newbie to digital cameras and their software.
This is the "as short as I can make it" version.
BF's father bought me a Nikon Coolpix 4300 camera from a pawn shop, camera works great but the View software didn't come with it. I downloaded the software from the Nikon website, tried to upload the pics from the camera, got an error message that the camera or card was not attached to the computer.
So what I decided to do was to spend the $20 and order the latest Nikon View 6.2.7 software directly from Nikon. The CD came last week, I installed it and got the same error message, so I (might have jumped the gun here) uninstalled it, and tried to run the RegSweeper on the CD to completely remove it from the computer...of course the RegSweeper won't run even though I am following the directions to a T! So back to the Nikon website I go, get the directions to remove the register keys manually and do so. But something is still there because when I try to install the View 6.2.7 it won't install correctly. I want to get View installed correctly so I can go from there to figure out if maybe I didn't have the camera hooked up to the computer correctly.
I have a fairly new Gateway Computer, running Windows XP Home version.
Any and all help will be appreciated!
Thank You,
Margie
