Whats the easiest way for y'all to clean a rabbit? The way I was taught was to hang them by the paws upside down belly facing you and slowly start down the legs skinning. Seems like alot and takes a long time. I've seen a friend of mine from a distance skin a rabbit in like 5minutes holding it in his hand never tying it using his pocket knife and did a fine job. How do yall skin a rabbit?

If it's a wild rabbit, i do it like your friend does... Hold one hind leg in my hand at a time and pull the furr down from the legs down over it's head...
But, if it's a tame rabbit..... well, they are a LOT more work!! For a tame rabbit i tie a small rope on the hind legs, hang the rabbit up and use two hands and many times a knife too... The fur comes off hard on a tame rabbit!
Once the skin/fur/legs/head is off the rabbit, you cut it open and and remove the innerds... Take out anything you don't want to eat!! lol

Thx DM...The rabbits I've cleaned were tame. The one's my friend has dressed were wild. I'll have to pay attention a little bit better the next time he pays me a visit and shoots rabbits.

I've always skinned rabbots by getting a handful of hide a little ways below the neck, on the back and cutting a slit big enough to get several fingers from both hands in.
Then I pull in opposite directions and peel the hide off.
It pulls off pretty easy.
Once the hide is off I gut them and finish the cleaning out of all internals then cut up for cooking.
Somewhere along there you cut their head and feet off.
Rabbits skin very easy and you should be able to get one cleaned up in 5 minutes or less.

Yea Im with Ol hoot. I always cut them accross the back too, get your hands in there then just pull him out. Never cleaned a tamed one yet will be in a few weeks though. Gonna have to hang and skin them cause I want to tan the hides to make a blanket.

Rabbits are thin skinned. grab a hand full of scruff on the back make a small slit to get a couple fingers In and Pull lopp off the head and feet Slit the belly and clean out the innards and wash thruly when done......... if your hunting and want a quick field dress for cottontail grab then around the chest with both hands and suqeeze all the insides into their belly, Still holding the preasure On raise above your head and come down fast hitting your Knees with both elbos swinging the rabbit between your legs. the innards will Shoot out the anus . Word of warning Make sure NOONE is behind you . My brother found this part out the hard way, Dad wasnt very happy. get Home peal the hide Like above and thoughly clean with water

Nice one Wolfer! I gotta try that next time I take some city folk rabbit hunting, see if they puke. lol I wish I was like that poke Bear Grylls, not worried about pathogens and parasites. I'd just take a bite right out of the loin, that would get 'em for sure! But yeah, Thanks man, that sounds like quick way .
