preserving bait.

I have a few lbs of fish and shrimp left over for bait for next year. I don't want to keep it in the freezer taking up space.

Should I just dump it a bucket filled with salt or should I buy sodium benzoat or someting like that.

any suggestions.

IMHO neither one of those is going to preserve bait till next year. You're talking about the start of trapping in @ November 2007, right?

yeah I was thinking of saving it for next season. if the freezer is my only option then thats what I'll be doing.
