I keep one in the pickup for emergencies and wouldn't hesitate if the opportunity was presented. I've got some 123 gr hollowpoints that would do the job however I just don't really have the confidence in the CHICOM if I had to take a shot at anything over 100 yrds.

Dad & two brothers use them to good effect. There are so many versions though. How do you know what is good until you shoot it?
If I'm not mistaken, there are not only Chinese & Hungarian versions but also Romanian & even Egyptian models. Perhaps a few more countries made them as well.
Dad & Sibs all agree however, treat it like a .30-30 and you won't be disappointed.
It isn't a 'magnum' anything.

It was probably East German or Russian.
