How did you kill the bobcat and how big was it and did you skin it out? Where do you live? I'd like to get a bobcat but i never see any signs of them here.

OK, i see you live in WV, i thought you was someplace close. I live in WV too, but like i said don't see any sign. Except only once, 2 years ago i did see some tracks i thought MIGHT be bobcat. There was no claw marks and they seemed too big for a housecat. Sure would be awesome to get a bobcat. Congratulations. I don't suppose you have any pictures of it?

Penny- the bobcat was pretty big, and I had planned to skin it out for the hide, etc,, but to circumstances beyond my control= I only leg shot the cat the first shot, and it basicly got above a mining highwall before I could get another good shot into it. I shot at it a total of 3 times with a 30-06. All three shots I was standing in the middle of an old mining/gasline road near the top of the mountain here. I was bearhunting at the time. When I rounded the point, I saw something in the road -and it was this bobcat (it was tracking or hunting squirrels) I think- because it had its nose to the ground and didn't see me. It was out about 60-75 yds and I just made a sortof bad shot. I fired the next time as it was scaling the highwall and missed. The 3rd shot must have placed pretty good, because it went about another 25 feet and never moved again.
The bad thing about it was this------- I searced for a place to get up and over the highwall in both directions =- but couldn't find anywhere at all to get an access to it. I would have to have been a rock climber and have that type gear to get to it.
Never got my bear either- yet!!! Got about4 more days to do so, and may go out a couple more times = that is =if I can shake this sore throat I just came down with.
I saw a big black Panther in the same area about 20 years ago,,, but haven't seen one since then.
Deer are everywhere here, but we don't have the privilage of hunting them with a gun (because of the 4 counties closed seasons) We can only use Bows in these counties.
Hog season came in about a month or so ago in a couple of our bordering counties (Logan is one of them). I didn't get to hunt in that season at all.
So much to do,,,,, so little time ya know!
The bobcat was pretty big and real fat too,,,, Well,,, so much for my Catt'in around, ehh?

Wow, that's neat. You're lucky to live somewhere that you can hunt bear and wild boar. Too bad about the stupid no gun for deer BS though.

I saw pictures in the paper of some guys went to Pocohantas county and got 350 lb black bear. That would be exciting to be able to the 30-06 and get a bear and make a nice rug out of it. Sure would be a memory to get a bear. Or a bobcat. That's interesting, thanks and congrautulations on the bobcat, too bad it had to die out of reach, though. I've shot stuff in the creek or across the creek and not been able to get to it.
