Got my first bow buck this evening a 6 pt. It was a lung shot and my arrow went all the way through! I felt it was a good hit so i didn't wait any half hour i only waited about 30 seconds and i tracked it easily because it wasn't dark yet and it bled and upturned leaves as it ran. It went about 80 or 90 yards. After shooting through the blind wall the other day i figured i done missed two because my arrow falls off the rest so i made darn sure it was on there before i shot because that happened last year, too. I'd rather shoot through the wall than wound one so i'm just glad i finally got it right.

Way to go. Bows are the way to hunt. Such
a challenge. What a real hunter you are.
I use an old fashion bow and arrow.

Yum it's chili season.

Thanks for the congrats, all!

Well, by all means, Scoutinlife, take the bow up again, if for no other reason than it gives you an early start on the season.

No pictures of the buck. Husband wanted to get the camera but there wasn't time for me time to get cleaned up. My hair was dirty and i was all bloody, so i said no. We had a lot to do to go check it in, skin it and then i had to do the supper dishes and wash the hunting clothes.

Oh, but anyway, the rack was about volleyball size? Big body though, and more meat than a doe.

Scoutinlife, we had the tenderloin Friday. I beat it out with a meat hammer and put salt, pepper, and onion powder on it and whacked that in. Rolled in flour and fried till crispy. GOOD STUFF!

Good luck to you, Catalpa! Keep us posted.

Thank you...you're right but i dont'want to spend the money because this arrow lift thing cost $60 or $70. When the "pro" at the bow shop outfitted me i bought whatever he recommended because i didn't know anything. Now i wonder if he was counting on future sales and figured i'd be back. If i DO break down and get the whisker biscuit, prob order it from Cabelas. He'll just have to find hisself some new and unsuspecting prey.
