46 but feel younger! Just starting out on the self sufficiency road so I have a lot of catching up to do.
45 but feeling older due to all the stuff I've learned about the country, politics, education system, economy, ,entitlementality, my race slowly disappearing, my religious beliefs being made a mockery of, probable NWO of some type coming soon.

Many thanks - we're a special group, aren't we? And belated happy birthday to you also!
I agree, but also feel sort of sad to think that people who believe in self-responsibility are 'special' --

Aamlf :)
It was just a joke between people who have December/Christmas birthdays. That's all. Just being silly and not having to do with "self-responsibility" group being special. LOL. We are all special in God's eyes.
I do agree with you, though, that "self-responsibility" is sadly becoming a minority in this world.

I am 50 years old. I would guess most are over 40. My guess has no scientific data other then my impression of the people under that age that I come in contact with. Hope I don't offend anyone, that is not my attempt.
Have a great new year everyone.....

I am 55, still trying to be more self sufficient. I agree with those who
say the most important thing is to get out of debt, it's a trap.

43, will be 44 in a couple of weeks. Lots more gray hair than last year, and my joints feel a bit stiff when it's really cold.

In December I turned 48 years old - I don't feel that old. My dear hubby will be 36 in a couple of days. We are best friends and in this survival thing together! I'm a little more focused then him but he gets it.
40 a few weeks ago. Middle aged?

I'll be turning 39 in two weeks. I just started getting interested in "self sufficiency" or "homesteading" about 2 years ago when I started to get a bad feeling about society. I swear, I am a sane person! Lol! I started by buying extras at the grocery store, so hubby wouldn't "notice". Then I started gardening, which has been expanded this year, and hubby just thought it was one of my new "hobbies". He does help with the gardening occasionally. This year I'm hoping to can what I grow. I'm a little leery of it though. I've canned before, but it was things like homemade pumpkin butter and apple butter, you know, really easy stuff. Hubby bought me a pressure cooker, and I'm scared of it due to horror stories I've read about the things exploding while canning because people didn't know how to use them properly, which I would include myself in that group, even with the instructions! lol!
I would really like to get my hubby more on board with me, but I don't think that's going to happen. I've touched on the subject a couple of times, but he just looks at me and pretty much says "Whatever". I want to stock up on more than just food stuffs bought from the store and what I'll hopefully be able to can this year, but being on an extremely tight budget doesn't help, I try to do what I can.
Sorry for the long post, I know it's more than what you asked for! :)

47 Been preping for about 2 years. Just started home canning seriously because of the lack of decent meat products available. The idea of eating canned ham and spam, or deviled products does not appeal to me. Now in addition to all the gear I have collected I run at least one caner load a day when I get home from work =)

MLCXIX....................You got me... I'll scream uncle!!! How old are you trying to say you are>>>? I guess my Roman numerals are reeeeealy rusty because that doesn't seem right to me. I thought a smaller number in front of a larger number meant we subtracted and everything else meant we added. If a person's born in 1969 the Roman numerals would be MCMLXIX but if a person's 69 it would be LXIX.... right? So if ML is 1050 and CXIX is 119..... what's MLCXIX supposed to be? I think maybe I better go back to elementary school or something since MLCXIX isn't computing for me.

I will be turning 50 in July. Hubby will be 47 this year. I've been gathering things and started canning with pressure cannier this last year. I've done the simpler canning of jellies and some fruit. I try to keep a well stocked pantry. Our daughter understands about keeping a good stocked pantry but our son and his wife hasn't a clue.

I'm 47 and Hubby 51. I've been working on it for about a year. I wish I had started when I first married. I don't see us becoming totally self reliant. DARN! BUT, taking baby steps to get as close to self reliant as possible. AND, saving money, living a healthier life style, and living a life that's meaningful. :D

I'm 30 and my wife is 31. I've been wanting to go the homestead route for a long time, but just haven't had the money to do it until a couple of years ago when we decided to start a horse farm. The horse farm is our business and we're just naturally trying to build the place to be as eco friendly and self sufficient as we possibly can. We're getting there... slowly but surely!

I am 26 and my husband is 33. We are pretty self sufficient but were just discussing last night that our biggest priority should be food. For example we are going to go from eating 3 meat meals from meat from the grocery store to eating 1 meat meal a week from bison meat our friends sell. We are also going to try and eat more seasonally. We are too spoiled by the stuff at the grocery store. I figure we need to eat a lot more home canned food over the winter, that way fresh fruits and veggies will become a treat again, like they were meant to be. I want to have mroe control over where my food comes from and stop trusting just anybody that will sell it to the grocery store! Ok sorry you just asked my age didn't you? Lol!

I'm 63. We've been homesteading since 1995 and becoming more self relient all the time. I have decided after reading Jackie Clay's book on starting over that down sizing is the only way to go. The less you have to rely on (for convenience and comfort) the more you become self relient. Funny thing is that when we came here we hadn't even thought of getting a cell phone or internet connection. Now days, I'm just concerned with the light bill.
55 here and husband 62. It has been in the back of my mind for several years,,,been more serious the last 5,,,and really serious the last year.

32 and the wife is 33, We've been trying to get out of debt and have our financial life in order since my 8 year old arrived. We have just recently started to think about prepping for TSHTF. Being debt free is always good, but we'd still be screwed if the power went out for more than a couple of days. We have a lot of work to do.

Old enough to know the rules to the game, but young enough to still play...
Im 42. Started this project about 8 years ago.
I'm 54 and my wife is 63 we started homesteading in 95 started with a 12x16 cabin now we have a double wide an wish we would have added on to the cabin and stayed out of debt. So I HAVE CAME TO KNOW THE MEANING OF THE BURDEN OF MAKING PAYMENTS WHEN THERE IS NO JOBS IN THE AREA OF MY CHOSEN PROFESSION. So if you have to make payments on anything it could become a burden instead of a pleasure real fast, the happiest times my wife had was in that little cabin, If i had it to do over again we would still be in it.

I'm 61 and wife is 58. Learned a lot from my grandfather/grandmother in the 50's and 60's. Been prepping since 2007. Been through more hurricanes than I can remember and have lived on acreage as well as on sailboats. The most interesting part of this nowadays is planning for loss of all electricity and specifically continuing to get water from a 240 foot deep well. Got PV's and the other stuff, just not put in yet. Live in a city but won't be here when TSHTF.:)
