Any of the members play instuments, mainly bluegrass. Mandolin, fiddle what ever else. I am asking for a reason, to be shared latter. Maybe have some young kids playing bluegrass? anyway chime in on this if you would. I have played most of my life up till a few years ago. I had some nerve damage to my left hand and found it pretty hard to play a string instrument any longer.

I play guitar and am learning mandolin. Sorry to hear about your nerve trouble in your left hand - Have you given any thought to an Autoharp or perhaps a dulcimer? Both a lot easier on the left hand, especially the dulcimer when you use a “noter” (short stick to hold down the fretted strings).

I agree about trying a dulcimer. I think a dulcimer is the easiest stringed instrument to play. Years ago I bought my dulcimer in Nashville. When I got it home, our son took a better look inside and found the maker was located in Kansas, so it made a round trip ::). I play several stringed instruments (for my own amazement because I'm self-taught).

A former neighbor is one of the premier bluegrass bango players in the area. Our son and many of his friends were also talented players and when he was in high school, we'd all get together out on the patio and have a great time. Our bango-playing neighbor made everyone sound good and taught us a lot of songs. :D

I'm not too shabby on the harmonica and have been known to slobber on a jaw-harp. :)
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. You're getting me to wondering what you're up to. I like both traditional bluegrass as well as the stuff you would hear on Hee-Haw. Fox On The Run is one of my faves.

OZARKMTnDaredevil I am up to something but it is good. Not to be worried as I am a straight shooter always honest and Republican. Well maybe the last part didn't fit in very well LOL. Karen you all are having too much fun. We use to have a group of neighbors just like yours. man we could sure make music and have fun doing it. We played mostly country but bluegrass did come up often. Those were truely the days.

My mandolin is an old flat top Kentucky, modle KM100 (made in USA) with an oval sound hole. It is circa late 1984, or a term I heard the other day "late-century". I got it from Elderly Music Company.

Have a cheap "A" style Gibson mandolin.

Have not had any lessons. Would do that, but no one teaches mandolin close to here.

Just play 2 finger chords. G, D, C seems to be enough to get by. Just sit next to someone that is loud and if I hit a clinker no one notices.

Took it to Nashville with me, and got to play it on the old and new Grand Old Opra stages. As well as the stage where they filmed Hee-Haw.

We have a "Indoor Winter Bluegrass Festival" here at the end of November. About 60 strait hours of continuous jam sessions. Any where in the hotel there is room for several folding chairs there will be a jam.

Nice Mandolin tufhelp. I have a Kentucky as well but not sure what model at the moment. Has a great spruce soundboard though. One of the older ones. Wyo, you lucky guy. Playing at the Grand Old Opra is a big deal. Gibsons are not cheap either. Are you witholding information here? LOL.

Folks I have a guitar, bango, and an ole fiddle missing a string and no bow as well as a hand made dulcimer, and I cannot play a tune on any of them but boy I do like the ole bluegrass tunes. We added cable TV in the house a while back and they have a bluegrass channel that I drive the wife crazy with. She hates it. The older the better I think. Rick

Kyhome, what network, is this tv show on. Details, I need details man, so I can see if or how to make it available here.

The local high school public radio jazz station has a show "Bluegrass Saturday Morning" 7-12am. I have a dedicated alarm clock radio set for that every weekend. Kids hate it when that comes on early Saturday.

After that show, they play a show called "Mountain Stage" out of W. Virginia. Think it is a public radio station oriented show, with national coverage. Not so good, I think. They do a lot of jazz type country and New York, California based groups that put there own spin on stuff.
Not so good, far as I'm concerned.

However, they do some Zydico (bad spelling) once in a while that is REALLY good.

I bought my husband a banjo as a gift. He used to play but hasnt in years. Im very interested myself in learning mandolin. The posters made me realize there are different kinds. I didnt know this, dangit! why cant anything be easy :-/ Oh well, some day ill find one and get started. My son loves the harmonica, he got ahold of my dads old antique one and just loves it. Scares me to death, im gonna have to get him his own!
