Hello,

We have some friends (family with 2 kids) that are going to be going to Africa for several years as missionaries. While there, they will most probably be harvesting rainwater, if there is no well (they're not sure right now) and are looking to implement a small solar powered, 12v system.

I have some links and I know that there were posts on these topics, I just can't seem to find too much information. The information that I do find leads to broken links, etc.

I was able to scan through 12vmans posts for some good links (thanks 12vman!), but wanted to know if anyone had information/ebooks, etc. on these topics.

I have books like "Where There Is No Doctor" and "Where There Is No Dentist". Is there anything else that should be considered?

I am also pointing them towards the following for info:

Thanks In Advance!

How about information about solar cooking?

I have both of these brands and use them regularly.

Tulsi Hybrid Solar Oven

(This one would be my first choice because of portability.)

Sun Oven
http://www.eartheasy.com/sun_oven.htm

Check prices, they vary greatly....

They can pasteurize their drinking water in a solar oven, as well as cooking and baking.

I would think there are missionary organizations who could share a lot of information.

Thanks for your links. I appreciate them!

They (the family) are going to a conference-type of meeting in a few weeks where they will find out more information on what's available to them as far as information goes. Hopefully, they will get some info that way as well.

Right now, they are doing as much research as they can and since they know that I talk a lot about similar topics, were very interested.

Thank you again!
