i hope this is the right spot to post this..
for yrs and yrs.everyone would go to the river and feed all the gatherings of geese and ducks.even where we live there is a wildlife lake reserve...state signs posted everywhere saying not to feed the geese and ducks.
so with in the last couple of yrs.these signs have gone up everywhere.
why?that is what i wonder.
for 35 yrs our family has gone to the river with our kids and now grandkids and we would take bread and feed them.everyone everywhere would.no more.
just wondering some of your thoughts on this.thanks so much.rae-dean ???

thanks for this.there is alot of ducks and geese at the river...ok.i always thought it was so odd that everyone fed them for so many yrs and now everywhere it says not to.i wondered if it was the bird flu thing they were quietly trying to protect us from.all the conditions above is what happens. So thank u so much sandycane for this info.thanks.now i can tell the kids why we can not do this anymore...rae-dean

Dear Rae-Dean and Sandycane,

I'm not sure whether the wildlife people are trying to protect humans from avian flu, but really, far more people die from regular influenza every year than ever get infected by avian flu. I say put your time and efforts to where it matters most.
