Since I don't have access to the internet at home, I'm looking for recommendations on a good book about raising Guinea fowl.
Thanks!!!!!

About the only book out there is "GARDENING WITH GUINEAS" by Jeannette S. Ferguson. It is a small book and fairly simple. She is an enthusiast, so you have to take some of it with a grain of salt. A higher protein diet is recommended, but ours do fine eating the same thing as the rest of the chickens. They also like scratch, which is useful if you want to lock them up in the evening.

Best of luck to you.

Pat

Yep - that's the book I would recommend.

Just remember guineas are DUMB!!! Dumber than turkeys. Mine were horrible mothers and the babies I had to raise until full grown or they would get lost, get eaten or just die of fright when turned out. Of about two dozen keets I got 2 adults last year!!!

Well I ordered a dozen keets, probably not enough but I've never messed with the things before......

I started out with 9 at the beginning of May. They were laying by January or so, and we collected and incubated eggs the following April. Had tons of them. They don't do well raising their own young, but we've had good luck incubating and brooding them. Depends on your local predators.

Pat

Well, I've got the "Gardening with Guineas" book on the way, and the giuy I order the keets from was nice enough to send me a PDF file of the "basics".
Looking foward to this!
