Are You Into Car Camping?

Some folks may call it tent camping or family camping. What I mean is sleeping in a tent, cooking over a camp stove, bar-b-q or campfire and hauling your gear in your vehicle. That is NO back-packing, NO RV’s not even pop-up tent trailers.

The reason for the question is that I’m writing a handbook primarily for the novice/newbie car camper. And while I hope that the experienced camper may find it useful also it's definitely geared towards the novice or newbie. At this point in time I have completed twenty [20] of twenty-six [26] odd chapters. I'm naturally curious to see what people think of the book.

I want to make an offer to the first ten [10] or fifteen [15] interested parties who PM me with their e-mail address.

I will e-mail them back with one, two, or three attachments as follows:

1.)An eight [8] page MS Word 2002 document in vertical (portrait) format. Actually it’s Chapter Seven of my book and it’s entitled “General Tips And Guidelines” and consists of over seven [7] pages of comprehensive basic camping tips and suggestions.

2.)A one [1] page MS Excel 2002 worksheet in horizontal (landscape) format titled “Master Car Camping Checklist”. This is a very comprehensive and detailed checklist.

3.)A two [2] page MS Excel 2002 worksheet in vertical (portrait) format. The same document as above.

Remember that you’ll need to have MS Word and/or MS Excel 2002 or later on your PC to take advantage of this offer.

Look forward to hearing from any interested folks. Please feel free to post your comments here.

Since we don't seem to have a camping board, I am posting this on both the "General Board" as well as the "Other Self-Reliance Issues Board"

Regards,
J.W.S.

Hard to find places to car camp away from other people. I don't mind paying occassionally, except having to pay is usually an indication that there will be other people. There are exceptions like some smaller Provincial Parks that are not so popular or off season but still open or in less populated regions like the more remote parts of Canada off the beaten track. Logging roads can work also when not busy with logging trucks or ATVers but that sort of thing is easier to do in places you already know and have checked out. Having lots of people around is something I prefer to avoid. In the best cases having strangers around is somewhat unpredictable. In the more common cases, far too predictable.

Anyhow, spending money on a book that reads like a Canadian Tire or L.L.Beans catalogue is also something I try and avoid. Anyhow, if you have something else in mind, like practical ways to enjoy life in the great outdoors without spending money on stuff; noble quest, but good luck finding a publisher.
