Some times it pays to keep your ears open.
There's a guy at work (on my crew) who has been living on his father's land for the last 20 years (since he passed). He was named executor of the will and was acting as caretaker untill it was time to sell the land and divvy up the proceeeds to the surviving siblings. Well, it seems that time has come. As of July 4 the property MUST be on the market per the will.
So this guy has been going on for the past few months about how he needs to get rid of a bunch of stuff before the land sells, (he specigfically mentioned a chain saw) and I finally arrange to get up there and see what he has thinking I could get a good deal on the chainsaw and may be a few other things.
Long story short I drove away with an almost new McCulloch PM 605 Chainsaw (20" bar, 55cc), a gallon of bar/chain oil, 2 quarts of 2 stroke oil, 5 spare chains (NEW IN BOX!), and about 1/2 dozen (NEW) chain files. Cost? A grateful co-worker who didn't want to throw it out or hassle with trying to sell it! (read: FREE!) 8)
In addition I scored about 30 lbs of 16AWG Magnet wire (http://www.forcefieldmagnets.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_38&products_id=115&osCsi d=3905fb67fa31d67c6aad7eb1a620a076) (to be used for making windmill stators (http://www.forcefieldmagnets.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22_30&products_id=182&osCsi d=3905fb67fa31d67c6aad7eb1a620a076)), A classic no-motor reel push mower (well aged, yet functioning just fine), and get this....21(!) Oil filters.... all of which will fit any of the four rigsI own, or provide oil changes for the life of my Toyota.
And that's just what i took home today. There's still about 150 feet of chain-link fence with posts, all bundled up ready for transport, and 100 gallon galvanized water tank, corrugated metal roofing, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remeber at the moment. All he wants is to be rid of it!
;)
