Anyone know any good places to pick up a water cistern? I like those big galvanized steel 1200 gallon numbers. It'll be put in above ground to capture rain water off the roof and used for irrigation and livestock.

I checked Farm and Fleet but seems like all they have are those plastic ones.

Hi Erie---Tractor Supply has them here and they are very resonible,BTW--I am fasinated with cisterns--

Good luck--let me know what you have to do.

I built a water shed for mine--doubled as a storage shed.

Ran gutter off of the shed to the cistern.Worked great.

I love Tractor Supply as compared to Farm and Fleet, but they don't have any out here in Western Illinois. I've got to drive a ways into Wisconsin or into Iowa.

Thanks for the tips, gang. A cistern is a great thing. Even though I'm on well-water, I like to keep water on hand for various purposes.

Ernie,
I think of a cistern as something enclosed - so if you do a search, try using "steel stock tank" and you'll get something
closer to what you're going to use it for. I tried that & got lots of hits; this is the first one.

This site wants your personal email and they'll send you the nearest dealer. I'd like 'em better if they posted PRICES! ;)
