This was written by a guy who was homeless for a while:

www.donrearic.com/homeless.htm

mostly basic stuff but some intersting info, plus at the bottom of the page there is a link to Don Rearic's home page with more survival stuff. *

Ooops, forgot to put in a warning for cat lovers.........he does talk briefly about "the other white meat" :o

In the spring of 2000 I took to the road or more precisely the tracks. I was having some personal problems at the time and just wanted to get away from it all. Somehow I had to get the demon of internal struggle off my back. So I started walking, I walked from TN to FL and back again.

I posted about my story here:

Have done a bit of myself, back when I was young and foolish, but going cold and hungry is one way to learn a few things that come in handy for the rest of your life. There are plenty of folk sleeping rough in the cities, and the larger towns and some of the smaller ones, too; have been for years. Invisible is a very safe way to be, when you have no where safe to go to.

Farmboy I recall a time when we used to have a thread about "cat recipes". Most of us got lots of laughs out of the posts. I'm a cat lover and was never offended by anything said there. Yes, I'm aware some people actually eat them but I don't think I ever could bring myself to do that no matter how hungry I got. I'd rather starve.

i could eat a cat in a heartbeat! ya know it seems to me that i used to thing omg i could never eat this or that poor precious things. until i had to go hungry for an extended period of time. that permanently changed my mind.
I was in a big city at the time too. and i always thought to myself , why dont those homeless people just walk out of those cities and live in the forrests. well i found out why. they dont really need to. the parks in the cities are full of ducks and pigeons, geese and many other birds as well as some of the larger parks grow edible flowers and berries. I did quite well on city duck! and they are so easy to catch by hand!
