We just picked the last of the corn and pulled the stalks. I have fed a few stalks here and there to my horses in the past, but wonder about feeding them in a larger amount, say as a 1 x a day substitution for hay. The mare I am boarding gets senior feed twice a day with her grass hay, so vitamins aren't a problem, and I'm not talking about long term, just the next week or two until the stalks are gone. She seems to really enjoy the few I've fed her.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

I can't remember why, but I had a vet one time tell me not to give a horse more than about one corn stalk per day..... It may be that they can founder or something. I just can't remember. BUT, I do remember than too much corn stalk is not good on a horse..but cattle can stay on it with no problem.
