Its time to take the pigies to the butcher. This is my first time taking an animal to be butchered. How should I have them done I am LIke i said I am a newbie and want the most I can get. Let me add I have 3 pigs but only one is catrasted they are about 5months old.

We have a little piggie ready for the market to. We moved to the coucntry last year and its our first pig. Our little piggie is 5 months old to. We also don't know how to have it slaughtered?

I called the butcher/meat processor in the next town over small operation have bought from him before , He said at least 150 pounds (I dont think piggy is going to stand on the scale) The price he gave me was $25 to slaughter and dress out and .45 cents a pound to butcher and wrap. Hams were an extra 50 cents a pound. Figure 100lbs of meat for 100 bucks well see

That little piggie is gonna cost us a fortune....lol, I have been reading a lot about home butchering and this may be another option,,,,and you have 3?

Still to warm and Idon't have a barn or anywhere to do it.

yes thats a problem, has to be cool out, and don't want to do it in the open a kid may see it.

I dont agree about the kids part unless they are real young this way they know where there food comes from. We have 2 boys the help with the chickens whe do them. They named the pigs bacon,ham,suasage

We call our pig hammy, and i can't wait to get those hams in my freezer, its what i meant young kids.
