Hello to all;
Ive got questions about raising pigs, 1) I'm going to turn out a couple pigs in the garden, should I remove the marigolds. 2) I have a pretty good stand of sweet corn left, whats the best way to present it to them, as sillage, or as it is. 3) Can I make sillage by running the corn stalks and all through a chipper into garbage bags loosly tied? Any other advice would be appreciated.......Thanks

I am all for keeping things simple. If you are not needing that corn for yourself, you can let the pigs do the work of "cutting it down" .If you want to make silage, you need to fasten it tight and pack it in good, too. it works sort of on the same principle as sour kraut. Our neighbor drives his tractor over his silage to pack it down tight. (not in garbage bags of course, but huge amounts in a long silo).
