I made mention of this on another post but felt it would be best as a stand alone topic. I am the kind of person that likes more than one plan. I kinda feel even the best made plans could fail so more than one should be put it place. OK your at home, ready for just about anything that could happen and it does. You are ready, plenty of food, water, guns for protection but what you didn't plan on was marshall law coming into play. Maybe more crime than you know you are prepared to deal with. Could be a number of things that would cause you to find a safe place to retreat until things settle down. My (plan B) I will call it is very simple. If you was to set out to a safe place, away from cities and people in general, how would you get by. Plan B. I have picked several areas, all pretty close together ( as I will be on foot) to live for very short periods of time. it is my thought that staying in one place too long will get me noticed. Anyway each place will have what I consider my 72 hour kit. This kit will consist of food, water, items for shelter and spare clothes. It will have ammo, a .22 rifle, first aid supplies as well as flashlights and batteries. The list could go on but everyone will have different needs. How will I store this. PVC pipe is my plan of choice. I can store food in one, clothes and blankets in another, guns and ammo in yet another and so on. PVC can be made water tight, burried in the ground and retreived when need. markers could be in place that would mean little to anyone but you. You could stay at that spot for a short time or grab what you need and head for a different location that you may feel would be safer under the circumstances. The plan needs some flexability to it if it is gonna work. mark the PVC tubes with a color code in the event you just want or need a particular item. Leave the rest for a later date if need be. You won't know what is going to take place till it happens so flexability is what makes this work. I can assure you that game animals other than small game is going to vanish quickly if things get really bad. That's why my choice of guns. .22 will get you by and ammo is cheap as well as light. A good handgun for personal defense at your side always. Just some thoughts from a guy that wants to be ready for what ever comes my way. I am not sure, maybe I am a little crazy too, LOL

Common sense. But there is always a breaking point where 'fighting back' defensively & offensively come into play.
I couldn't sit on a mountain top retreat and watch my stockpiles being loaded into someone elses truck(s), gooberment or otherwise, without making them pay for it. Its hard for Joe Civilian to get good explosives today, but blackpowder can still be had, and sniping is fun!
Understand this! Even if its confiscated by martial law, you cannot go back! One, your weakened by the loss of the supplies even if they leave the structures intact. And two, you were easy pickings once....

I am a believer in fighting for what you have worked hard to get or to protect your life and the life of loved ones. You are right about reaching a breaking point and fighting for what's right. I have gave this much thought and have concluded this. Couple of low lifes out to take what they can will be met with death. Maybe even four or five would be an easy endevor as well. I have the training so this could probably get done. But if met with overwheelming odds or the government clearing out folks from their homes I will resort to another plan. I see it kinda like a burning house that can't be put out. Are you going to stay knowing death is just around the corner or maybe retreat and count your loses. It is a dificult decission but if I am not able to protect or provide for my loved ones dead and may as well be dead if it was on my sholders that I caused their death. Sometimes it is just best to live and fight another day with a fresh plan and the odds in your favor.

Aren't we all, trained I mean? lol
I'll prob have a few caches around too, but I'd surely hate to always be on the retreat, especially now that you've added the 'family' to the formula.

"martial law" can come in very small packages. By that, I mean, if, for example a truck or a train car with a toxic load rolls over near your home, you will be evacuated whether you want to or not. You don't have a choice.
When I first moved to Wisconsin, there was a train derailed near a small community. I can't recall what the chemical was, but it had a POSSIBILITY of becoming toxic. People were forced to leave their livestock, pets, homes in the middle of winter, and for quite a while. Long enough for pets and livestock to die, for the pipes in the house to freeze, killing house plants, etc. Those already away weren't allowed to go in and take care of stock or pets.
Everyone said, "oooh, too bad." But for THOSE people it was the end of the world as they knew it.
This, along with all the huge scenarios where it's happening to everyone at once - is something to give careful consideration and planning to. Possibly - some practice - "what if" I'm given 5 (or less) minutes to leave - what have I got to take? If the threat is real and there IS a toxic cloud coming my way, I'm not going to sass the guy telling me to leave, or hide under a bed until he goes away so that I can tough it out!

That's a sad story. It must have been pretty tough for those folks to go home and see the loss. We were evacuated once but only for a few hours due to a toxic fire. I am not sure how bad it would have to get but I will do what ever it takes to keep my family out of harms way.

I'm curious just how exposed we really are. When I look at google maps and look at the satellite photos I'm blown away at what I can see. There are areas near us that you have difficulty seeing much more than the house or a barn, but there are some areas that they have done recently that you can zoom up close enough to see in pretty good detail (identify cars, occationally people)
If we can see that, just what does the government see? And how many government agents are on sites like this reading and posting as one of us ???
Perhaps I should move this to the conspiracy thread. I just wonder though just what they really know about us and what our odds really are :-/
My hope is not in this world, though I would like to enjoy it as long as possible.

I dont have any friends. My family has betrayed me too many times for me to think thay wont again, especialy in a hard situation, Thay would rape me in a second.
This yarn reminded me of a poam i wrote " sittin on a hillside-rifle at my side". some People deserve the gov. thay get, And thay can have it all to themselves. God helps those that help themselves. Some people will really be in a tough spot, thay wouldnt help themselves, God wont help them,
And i sure wont. I think of the people i know that will try to turn me in and sell me out when the state starts rounding 'my kind' up to save their own hides, Mabey thay will be water boarded because the spooks will think thay are trying the hide me. ..."thay wonder where i went, I didnt give a hint"...

I find it sad you don't have any friends or family to be able to count on. I myself am slow to make friends. I know a lot of folks but true friends are carfully selected. I think sometimes they select me. Not really sure. I have a good circle of friends that I know I can count on and think it is important. Not everyone feels that way and some do just fine on their own. best of luck to you, sethwyo
sethwyo, I do not have many friends either. I know lots of people but would call very few true friends. I have wated to prepare for any emergency but have not had the money till now. I now have much more knowledge and much more supplies i.e. guns, ammo, food for almost a year allways adding more, learning new skills. I live in a small town (600 people) and am fortifying my property against all concerns. If I had some where to bury a cache I would but I don't so at this time everything is in my house. Served my country for 7 years (infantry) and learned alot and would use booth stratigies stand and fight and run away and live to fight another day depending on the situation. Any advice you have would be greatly appreicicated (can't spell). gsb

Advice- 'Dont tell anyone anything'- 'Dont keep your stuff in your house'. Thats the 1st place the state sponsored terrorist will look when people start telling everyone what you told them. It dont take mutch to find out what people are made of.
A cop arrested me because i told him he could not search my car for the 20th time that year,(i dont do drugs, or any thing else wrong) Thay knew i did gun shows and wanted to rip off some guns, Thay accused me of being a terrorist, murder rapest ect. My whole world was turned upside down, Everyone turned against me, All for nothing. that was 7yrs ago. something simular happened a few months ago. Advice- KURT SAXONS PREPAIRDNESS PAGES.

I'v been shot at, never hit.
GSB- Look for the little things people do, You can figure what thay will do when its time to do something. A man from argentina, at work found out that i had a bad breakout on my knuckles from a chemicle, He gave me a bar of LAVA, and told me i should use it to clean my hands,
"You can loose your fingers, If you want to go ahead, but you should use this, I got it for you."
That act and the way he presented himself told me a lot about him. On the way home i was stoped by 2 state troopers, Thay lied about almost everything thay said. Claming that my eyes wore bloodshot, Did thay really think that i am going to believe something that the three uf us all knew wusnt true? Consider that mind set.
I stock beans rice peanut butter rasins Canned juice
And dehidrated freeze dried soy substitute beef bitts and soy chicken bitts to put in the beans and rice, and stainless mess kits to prepair them in, store water in 5 gal plastic containers that i get from resturants the ones that held their fry oil. I got a 200 acre farm and water so im also growing about a 1000 corn plants and taters onions and beans. I got metel buckets for my beans and things so that the gnawing rodents wont ruin them. GUNS? The basic three, rifle shotgun pistol, And a back up set.
Learn to roll with the punches.
Would like to hear more from you.

Sethwyo, you want to here more from me? here it is. I'm with ya on the reading people I work in security in a casino, nobody tells the truth. Wish I had your land!! I have 1/3rd an acre, hell wish I had 5 acres. As far as people go there are 2 on this planet I trust, my wife (to a point) and my dog. Allready stopped a break in. I am stocking up on food also. I have taken your advice on not telling or talking to people about my preperations or what I have on hand. But cannot take your advice on not storing my stuff in my house, I have no were else. I have the guns and ammo minus the shotgun. But am in the market. One good thing my house is wired for a generator!!! Garden is growing. I'm kinda all over the place but I trust people about as far as I can kick them. What more do you want to here? As far as cops go I've had no troubles with them. I work closely with them through the casino. Feel free to message me.
Remember this : FREEDOM IS NOT FREE, FREEDOM WAS WON AT THE BARREL OF A GUN!

Nobody tells the truth, I dont when thay ask me if i own any guns. *Or when thay ask me what those 5 gal metel buckets are for. But it is not hurting anyone, the people who lie to hurt others are on the other side of the line. Preadators.
There are a lot of cotton tails around my buildings and vehicles, thay are wild but dont pay any attention to me, thay even let me get close enough to grab them and remove their ticks, *Several times i have looked out and seen some preadator tearing one of them apart, It made me so mad i could'nt stand it. The sound of one of my bunnies screaming removes everything from my mind except to kill. I cant stand it. *The land is the familys, i live here because everyone else wants the city. I know where thay will come when the citys food and gas runs out. I dont know if ill be able to live here or not when that happens, Iv made plans to be mobile, used moter oil and fry oil is diesel fuel and can be stored indefidently, if Kept clean and 'Dry' (no water) *Living on the run? dont run where everyone else is running. And id reather drive than run.*

gsb, not sure this would help but I know of a guy that picked up two old refregerators for free and burried them in his yard. They are covered with a thin layer of dirt. He claims he has a months worth of food and supplies in them along with some ammo. PVC will also work to hide guns as it is water proof when capped properly. Their are ways, you just have to put the survival mindset to work.

I have similar back up plans, buried pvc pipes with screw capped ends, red and black food grade plastic drums with screw on lids,as well has food grade 5 gallon buckets, double waterproof everthing, as well has a few refrigerators, and old chest freezers. If i was driven from my house by overwelming force, I would do has the russians did and burn it all has i left, they would get nothing and would not have a reason to come back, and probably all surrounding structures or homes in my AO total scorched earth policy then i would get mid-evil on whoever they are, I just want to be left alone but that is probably to much to ask for these days. :(

To be left alone. On one side their are the illigal gov. agents , on the other side are the people that will rob and rape when the power is out and thay get hungry. We, the people here, Have been outflanked. I keep some supplies and equipment where i live. But when im living on the run Those things will be out of reach. An old 12ga db. 50$ at a yard sale, stash it some where far away, you dont need it now, and it will be better than nothing, Go out some where in the woods or hills and plant some potatoes, carrots ect.
Dont invest much in it, it will be better than nothing.
sethwyo, looks like I have some things to add to my todo and wish list. I know I could live on the run but not so sure about the wife. It would be slow going. But I have her outfitted pretty good. She can shoot 9 not great but someone to watch my back. Has her own .22 side arm and .22 lever action Henry. I like these for her cause of the same ammo for both and ease of use/cleaning. I don't know where you live but here in Minnesota living on the run can be harsh. Hot summers, freezing winters. Thats one reason I prefer to stay at my house. I like madmac's pvc pipe idea. I have heard of it before, think i'll give it a try. How do I make sure its water tight? Got to go do some work in the garden.

You need to make stashes or cashes, You put all your eggs in one basket. . . you know. Living in the hills would be hard these days if 'thay' are looking for you. and considering every one else will also be trying to live in the hills.
Have you ever grabbed some gear and headed for the hills for a few days to see what its like? try it, read clairy wolfs 'lessons from the bug out camp out'.
I had thought that a woman would be good to have around.
Women can logic and work through problems, I thought that would be great for a survival situation, BUT try to talk about the food sortage here with a good ol american girl, Mutch less the other problems we are facing and she will probubly call the thought police. Thay dont want to give up junk food,
and DONT even talk about cooking or food storage to a woman. Teach a gal pal to shoot? Ill get shot in the back.
A vehicle with a load of food, water tools, tent, ect would be
something to consider, to get you out and somewhere you could rebuild or join up with others. For sealing pipe you would use epoxy, or for the threads- grease.
Hail killed some of my crops a few days ago.
sethwyo, never done the grab and go test, but I think I will now. I am a big fan of trying thingd first before you really need them! As far as woman go I have invested to much time in relearnen her to leave her behind! She use to be a screaming liberal. Now she's a gun toting, lower taxes, food storing, 2 job having conservative. Sorry to hear about the crops, my new garden is just starting to sprout. i am going to work on the cache idea. Good news today though the supreme ruled in faver of the washington security gaurd that induvidual citizen can own
a gun!!!

I am fortunant to have a collection of GUNS and AMMO from the late 70's, Aside from being more enjoyable than modern gun magazines, these have the 'survive!' colum by mel tappan. He discused the idea of living on the run, in the hills,
ect. Most people concluded that that would be only tempoary, unless you had a constant flow of goods from the outside. survival communities where there is strength in numbers was the conclusion.
Three books i recomend are WILDERNESS EVASION-Michael Chesbro.
TAPPAN ON SURVIVAL-Mel tappan.
And for some oversight and history info on the survival thing,
APOCALYPSE TOMORROW by Duncan long.
these are available from Deltapress and paladinpress.
