I've heard before that in a SHTF scenerio, you can use fish antibiotics in place of what you'd get from the doc.

Is this true or is it just a myth?

Has anyone ever did this before?

Thanks!

You might want to look this up:

Couple of sites, might be intresting, on line meds, no script:

Kat. Look down a few threads. You'll find a thread of mine titled Meds from Farm Supplies that relates to your question.

You probably can buy fish anitbiotics yet - We used to buy big bottles of Pen Pot tablets (pennacillin) for our fish very cheaply.

Be careful ordering on line. The 4-Corners Pharmacy is located on some south sea island - I had to look it up to see where the heck it was! (first link above)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanuatu

The second link's site doesn't even tell what country they're in or give a physical address.

Just because someone has a web site, it doesn't mean they actually have any product, or that they'd do any more than have fun with your credit card info! *:o

Now, if someone here has actual experience with either of these (or other) on-line medicine companies, that's another story! But I sure wouldn't want to be the one to discover they're not what they say they are.

WOW! :o

I just checked out the 4 corners site and just realized that you can order all of that stuff without a prescription. That just blows my mind! I have to agree with Carolann though. Does anyone have any experience with any of these sites?

Not with that site, but I do buy a lot at Pet and Feed Stores. Best advice add a *Physicians' Desk Reference *to your kit. It'll provide all the information you need on using antibiotics and other meds.....it's pricy but worth every penny.....

Hey Hunter,

Tks for the link, looks like something I can use. I've got approximately 9 months of my RX put back and rotate the stock but laying hands on antibiotics can be tough.

tks,

Rick

Rick, got a test order in at http://www.1drugstore-online.com/
No scrip

Got an e-mail saying it was shipped, 10 to 21 days
Used a credit card that has a $300 limit, just in case.
Will you know.

Wow, thanks, Hunter. I'm real interested in how it works. This could be my answer to my Rx stockpile problem.

Hunter, Thanks for the info and for the experiment. Is there a general list of which supplies to keep on hand and shelf lives of each?

That is something i wonder too. What kind of shelf life can one expect out of sealed antibiotics? It would be nice to have some on hand "just in case" but it would be pointless IMO to have them if they don't keep for quite a while.
Any thoughts?

It depends. You have to keep them in a dark, cool (60F) dry place, and they will last for at least two years.

I used to work EMS, and when our hospital's drugs expired after two years, we gave them to the local vets to use for another year. The expiration date on most drugs is bogus.
