Does anybody own a new pickup truck? I hate mine. I mistakenly bought a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. It`s built for midgets. I can`t see when a light changes, the windshield`s got ripples in it, the gas pedal, being electric, has no spring tension so I have to keep letting off the gas when driving, the seats are too small, the cd player eats my cd`s, the sheet metal is so chintzy, I`m afraid to lean on it too hard with my hand and dent it, I have to rotate the tires often, or they`ll feather, the fake leather seats are cracking, when I roll down the windows on a warm day, the wind coming in is too strong, the odometer is not accurate, there is just too many lights in the instrument cluster(does anyone remember a time, when , if a light came on there was something wrong?).
I do like the good gas mileage, the 4 wheel drive has gotten me out of some potentially dangerous spots and the radio sounds very good.
As a pickup truck owner all of my driving career, and never having a NEW truck before, I do have a very good frame of reference. The older trucks were so much better, they were alot bigger and wider, better seats, more power from smaller engines, better window glass, you could actually fit a toolbox, a coat, a shotgun, a jug of emergency water and some spare whatever behind the seat.
To hell with ABS brakes, seat belts, air conditioning, washer fluid, power everything, stupid bells and whistles, warning lights, warranties, just make a pickup that does it`s job. Heck, a guy I know lost his ignition key, and had to pay over $200 to get another one because the keys nowadays have some kind of transponder in them lets you start the thing. You can`t get a key made anymore.
And forget trying to fix something yourself anymore! I can change out the spark plugs, air filter, change the oil, tires and lights myself. Most everything else is beyond me anymore regarding repairs.

I hear ya, cub. My first truck was a 1965 Chevy C-10. The next was a '71 model. I remember being able to sit on the fender with my feet on the wheel-well and reach almost anything on a 283 or 400 small block. If I wanted to install a CB, I'd just find the nearest red wire, splice it in, find a Ground and I was good to go. Didn't have to worry about accidentally activating the airbags! Those were the days! :)

I have to agree with you.
Newer ain't better.....
I've been loyal to GM for most of my life.
Had at least one of every truck they made from about '98-back.
I'm of the firm opinion that the last GREAT quality truck GM built was in 1972.
Cheyenne Super 10's & 20's, along with the Sierra Grandes from GMC.
Rugged, reliable, good looking, long lasting.

Still a bunch on the road and going strong.

Same with the garden tractors.
Anything Cub Cadet before about '81 when IH stopped production........

We have some of the 2006 Silverados at work, seems like we are always sending them back to the dealer to get repaired. Check your inner tie rod ends, had a bunch with loose/failed inner tie rod ends (15-35K) and also leaking fluid from the boots at the Rack-in-pinion boots.

I would dearly love to get a hold of a 1960 Ford F 100 with a 6 cylinder and three speed on the column, no radio, no power steering or power brakes, relatively rust-free. Next to a good woman, a good dog and a good pickup is a gift from God!

I just got me a new truck!

It's a 1978 Ford F-250 4x4 with a nine foot by seven foot steel diamond plate flatbed with a rack over the cab and a removable rack on the back.

It has the big straight six in it.

Paid two grand for it. A bit much, but oh well.

It's a bit of a dog, but I will only be useing it for snow plow duty, hauling firewood out of the forest and hauling hay. That big flatbed makes hauling hay very easy!

I built three foot tall stake sides for it and helped move my brother in law last weekend. We did two loads, but it would have been four in a regular pickup!

The only downside is it gets 10 mpg. :P
Costs me 40 bucks to drive it to town and back, so this rig stays home unless I really need it.

Hey ,Backwoods_Bob,
A good heavy hauler is worth it`s weight in scrap iron these days. Good luck.
I got ahold of a `50 Chevy flatbed from Indiana, with 12,000 original miles. It`s in the body shop gettin a new paint job and a dump body conversion. Can`t wait to get `er home!

Haven't had a lick of trouble out of my 07 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab 4WD. Put over 30,000 miles on it in the last year. Stepping out of an 82 S-10 with 378,000 miles (slap wore out!) into that GMC was a wonderfull thing. I still have an 88 F150 w/ 190,000 on it if I desire to get my hands greasy.
The wife's 07 Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty with the diesel motor is sweet also. It replaced her 1980 GMC 1500. I tend to make my trucks last a long time, and have no doubt these will too.

Have you notified the dealer to correct this problems under warranty?

If so and the problem still are not repaired to your satisfaction then
contact your states attorney to inquire about a "lemon law" claim.

The truth here is.....the only reason you have to put up with this vehicles
problems is because you chose to. Act now!!

We bought a 2005 Ford F150 Super Crew King Ranch with a 5.4 V8. This truck is great on gas and we are very happy with it.
I love Ford Trucks my best friend had a 66 F100 with a 390 and three on the tree. That old truck would smoke the tires through first and into second gear.
My best F100 was a 1976 with a 300 inline six and three speed. I got it with over 100k miles and put another 100k miles on it. I sold it to a guy that is still driving it with well over 350k miles.

We stumbled on to a deal. We were at the ford lot just before we moved back home and they had a 2004 F-150 4x4 extended cab, new exhaust, shocks, tires my best liked color. Black with lots of chrome, tires still had the little rubber spikes on the sides of them they were so new. Good mud and snow ones.
With the trade in of my 250 on it. We got it less than $8400.00 to pay for. Oh, and I almost forgot. It had only 43,567 miles on it. No oil leaks, tranny leaks just like new...

I have an 05 Silverado LS Crewcab 4X4 with almost 60K on the clock, and I have had hardly any problems with it, and the ones I have had were minor. I take it out 4 wheeling alot in and around the property I just bought back in June, plus it's my daily driver to work (65 miles R/T). I think you may have got one "Built on a Friday", or maybe need to peek under the hood a little more often and keep up on the maintenance. (Leather seats need maintenance too)
