Anyone out there ever built a cart using a small lawn mower (horiz shaft) engine?
I don't mean a "go-cart". More along the lines of a utility cart/golf cart style.
Harbor freight has a 6.5 hp horiz shaft engine on sale for $99.00 and the creative juices started flowing.
Any ideas?

Cool! I wonder what axle/transmission would work now days.

I don't have any firsthand experience.
Might look into S-10 pickup trucks. They can be had cheaply and are very common. IIRC, they started to be made back in the 80s.
Would need to do some re-engineering but a light-duty FWD car transmission might be made to work. They're compact and generally lightweight. More of a pancake design than the more common longitudinal transmissions of RWD vehicles. Differential is generally built-in though. Might be able to weld it up or adapt around it.
When I was in Yugoslavia I saw this pretty cool utility tractor or what ever?
Basically the front end of the "cart" was a rotor tiller with wheels attached, then the rear end was a 2 person seat with a small bed on the back. Ill try to find some pictures of it?
Click the link below I cant figure out the picture posting thing.
