We recently picked up a 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser. Great vehicle that is built to last. This was an option for us instead of a mini van. We can fit 7 people if need be with all of the goodies necessary. On top of that, I feel confident that if I need to get my family somewhere, anywhere for that matter, this vehicle will do it.
A lot of people consider these to be a "yuppie" vehicle and in most instances, that is how they spend their life. The price tag on this one brand new was $50K so that pretty much rules out buying them new, at least in my case. Eleven years later, I managed to pay about 1/10th of that although it does have 208K on the engine. No worries though, with good maintenance and proper operation, I expect to get well over 300K on it.
I also have a 74 fj40 as mentioned in another post but that needs to be pieced back together.
