We have a motorcycle that we haven't tagged or ridden in about 3 years. We just don't think we are going to be riding for years and years and are now thinking about getting rid of the bike. We would like to either sell the bike or trade it for another vehicle (preferably a small reliable car). Have any of you bartered a vehicle in local newspapers and how did you word your ad to avoid people trying to trade crap?

Depending on year, start here:

Once you figure out what you are looking for in the way of price or trade, throw something like this up.

Example

For sale or trade
1972 Honda CB350 in good condition. Approximately 4269 miles with regular maintenance schedule kept. Gas mileage is approximately 65 mpg and runs very well. Please contact Joe at 555-1212 evening hours only for appointment. Asking $3200.00 or fair trade of equal or greater value.

I wouldn't normally add the gas mileage but that is a nice selling point in our current economic status. Perhaps someone that hadn't thought about having a motorcycle could view it as a way to save some bucks.
