So - I just got the company car back from repairs. (This is my week for dealing with that thing!!) I'm absolutely shocked at the bill. The guy called me to ask if they should replace "the fluids" - that they "looked bad."
Well, huh. Which fluids? I asked one of the guys what he thought, since the boss was out and he told me to tell them to go ahead, since they don't cost much.
The bill was $812.09 including two new tires.
Holy cats! They replaced stuff I've never even heard of.
$237.00 2 tires & labor
$49.90 interior - remove stink from AC
$30.10 change oil
$47.95 remove stink from AC/check hoses etc
$89.95 Power steering fluid & flush
$124.95 Transmission fluid & flush
$94.95 Rear End differential fluid & flush
$94.95 frint end differential fluid & flush
$42.34 tax
$812.09 TOTAL
I think these guys saw a sucker driving the company car when I drove in. I'm only glad I don't have to pay the bill! Although, I MIGHT have to EXPLAIN it . . .

Holy cow!!! How many miles on this car? Guess it could be worse, they could have flushed the radiator, and brake fluid too, they missed a few. ;-)
I hate car repair places!
Well the fluids "don't" cost much... but the labor to change them does!!
That $70.00 per hour those places charge these days, adds up fast!

Well, that makes me feel some better. I just thought it would be about half that. The car is a '95 and mostly just sits in the parking lot because we have a newer one that handles & rides better.
The AC system was checked over because the car stunk like mouse when I started it up. They were looking for a nest and /or chewed wires.

Thanks again - It's a 1999 4WD Chevrolet Tahoe.
Stink was mouse leavings/nest and I had them not only clean the duct work inside, but check wiring & hoses in the engine anywhere they might have chewed because when I turned on the heat, that thing STUNK! It sits for long periods because visiting execs want to drive the newer car - 2005 Tahoe with more gadgets and a better ride than the old '99 one.
I've NEVER had differential fluids changed in my own vehicles. Maybe I should! If I do, it won't be at that garage.
