View Full Version : Horse coat that also covers the eyes?

We've seen alot of horses with blankets on that also cover their eyes. I've been wondering why do some horses have covers for their eyes and others don't. If someone could tell me I'd appreciate it.
Sorry for the dumb question lol.

Hubby looked it up for me and it's because horses can get eye infections. Just in case anyone else wanted to know lol.

I don't see many blankets with eye covers but I do see (and we use) fly masks to protect them from the summer onslaught. If a horse has periodic opthalmia (also know as moon blindness) it would require shading because light is painful to their eyes during episodes.
