to be?

finally I can get into chat. no experience with stuff like that, but you know, I wondered what I was missing.
I must be doing something wrong. maybe someone can enlighten me. How in blazes do you talk to a person? I was a sub teacher for years and this is like a classroom. everyone talking at the same time, impossible to keep up with everything being said and it does not seem to be on the same subject all the time either. I am sure after all these years there is something like chat etiquette and I am missing something somewhere. thanks , and no offence intended. just an expression of my, well, uh, bewilderment?

Hey There, Bookwormom...

Last night in chat was one of the busiest nights we've had in there in a long time... Not only was it busy, but there were Many New Faces in there who had questions who we were trying to make welcome...

All I know to tell you is Whenever you don't succeed.... Try Try Again! We'd love to have ya with us :). Many friendships are being built and information shared in the chat room... I suppose it does take getting used to, we'll try to help ya out when you come back.

Type fast and use the persons name you are directing it to. LOL. Hey that's just chat. It's fun, sometimes confusing but it's the best we have.

Putting it into school house perspective, if you choose to chat with just a few folks about a specific subject, there are other 'rooms' that you can use outside of the main room. Just ask those that you would like to chat with to go there to get out of the main stream. Kinda like a parent/teacher conference.. ;)
