:)I had a very pleasant surpise this afternoon. One of my Dexters showed up with a new calf, no one thought she was due for a while. That's six this spring with no problem. I sure hope the rest come through that easy. :) :)

Wow, 25 bucks huh? I wish we had that price where I live, went looking for cows today and found plenty, but all ranged in the 70-125 dollar range. (Holstein bulls,or Holstein/Jersey cross-breeds)

Now keep in mind that price is AFTER they are weaned, or about 2 months old. Considering the price of calf-starter and grain prices, that sounded fair. A pail of calf-starter here is about 62 dollars a pail, and that will just about keep a calf going for two months.

Here was a week old Holstein Calf I saw today. My wife says he is too cute to eat, but I still named him Rib Eye. :)

:) :)good news lost1, what was it, girl or boy? we are waiting for two cows to calf. We could stand a piece of better luck than last year. Nothing but boys, even the straight run chicks we bought were 90% roosters. but our GP just had six pups, we were planning on keeping two males , she had only girls. :-/

I've got five little bulls and two girls so far, hope for more girls, but I'll take what I get. No problems so far.

Wow- how many Dexters do you have? Do you sell them, or sell AI for them? How many more calves are you expecting? Any of them having twins?

I am still waiting on Daisy but I am sure she will hold out till the weather clears now.

Twenty two cows, one red bull and a whirlwind of calves.
I sell them.
