My Big Lots in MI has a huge display of canning jars, lids and bans. They beat Walmart prices by $2.00

Just an FYI!

How much were the lids? I live in Michigan and was looking for lids at my local Big Lots less than a month ago and they told me they didn't carrry them. Can I ask what area you are in? I looked in the Grand Rapids area.

With Big Lots being a "clearance" type of store, buying up close outs and merchandise from bankrupt sources etc, it my well be luck of the draw and locale that drives the availability of some items... I know our case it is a matter of continually checking their stock, which varies from store to store even in the same town (Albuquerque). We picked up this habit working overseas in the middle east, if you see it buy it, you may never see it again...

SE Detroit-metro area. Lids were $1.25 for 12. Golden Harvent brand.

Just got back from BL, not a canning jar or lid to be seen... Not out, don't carry them here in Albuquerque as of yet. Wally World had tons, and not all that pricey.

Big Lots is pretty hit and miss. Stores in the same metro area can carry completely different stuff. I stocked up on some more lids and some pint jars.

You may get them soon though. The Golden Harvest brand is about $1.50 to $2.00 cheaper than the Ball brand at Walmart. Lids and Bands are usually $0.50 to $1.50 cheaper than Walmart.

Last year there wasn't canning anything to be found in MI by October and restocks didn't show up until January.
