Anybody ever made dish soap? Not for a dishwasher, but just for hand washing dishes? I make laundry soap and bar soap and was just wondering about liquid dish soap. I wonder if I could just make a multipurpose liquid soap? Would it leave a film or residue on the dishes?
Thanks in advance ;)

I just use my homemade laundry soap (liquid). Borax, washing soda, and ivory mixture.
I fill my old Dawn bottle about 3/4 way up with the soap and then the rest with water. You could probably get away with half and half too. I use it for dishes, cleaning counters, washing hands, ect. Cleans good and so far I haven't noticed any residue.
Hope that helps :)

Thanks Debbie! My liquid laundry soap consists of lye, ammonia, borax, lard, wisk (maybe something else, but can't remember without looking it up). Maybe I'll try that and mix it like you said........see how it does! Thanks ;D

Hello ladies. I have in the past taken regular lye soap(lard, lye, water) type and grated it into a blender, added hot water and whirl till smooth. It make kind of a thick mixture that can be used in laundry, dishes, shampoo, a little bit mixed with more water can be used to clean really grimy windows to a sparkle. It does not leave a residue.

Thanks.........I'm going to try both ways I think. I know that if you add powdered pectin to the melted soap/water mix, it won't seperate back into chunks of soap....so I'll experiment around and see what I come up with ;D

Sure! I think it's like a quarter teaspoon of pectin and I just use surejell. 8)
