View Full Version : What relation?

....is my wife's step-father's niece, to me?

She is quite ill and I want to put her on a prayer list.

If it is easier to cipher, feel free to substitute 'father' for 'step-father' in the above calculation.

Thanks,
Rick

Doesn't matter what this persons -title- is.

If you and they are close family, that is all that matters.

Best wishes

I'd simply say, please add my niece to the prayer list. The actual family/physical (don't know the right word) relationship to you isn't important, IMHO.

Prayers are with you and your family.

Thanks for the replies.

We do covet your prayers; I will add her to the prayer list on down the forum.

Is there such a thing as a grand-niece? The distinction is not important to me; I just want to accurately describe who she is to others.

God knows who you are praying for.

I believe it is great (step) niece. I pray God touches her and healing comes.

Great-niece, that sounds about right.

I thank you all very much for the prayers.

She isn't a great-niece. The correct term is grand-niece if it was by blood. But, it doesn't matter if y'all are one big happy family. I would call her my grand-niece. And you know we will all be praying for her and God doesn't care what the relationship is to you. Obviously, she means a lot to your and your wife for you to ask for prayers.

I'm with those who say it doesn't matter the title. Family is family.

Prayers and Blessings!

But it still niggles me. Lets see, If it was your wife's real father's niece it would be her first cousin, so it has to be her step cousin and therefore is your step cousin by marriage.

God knows who she is and what her need is.

Wow.. that was just too obvious, huh? I guess none of us saw that.

Not to lose sight of the desperate need for prayer, but that may be right; she's my cousin.

It doesn't feel like that, since she's 16 and I'm 53. Also, my kids call her their cousin (being all the same age, give or take a few years). It is what it is.

Anyway, thank you for the thoughts, and thank you very much for the prayers.
