Looks great! Didn't think it looked overgrown, didn't even notice any weeds! Maybe thriving is the word you were thinking :)

I didn't want to start another thread since you already have a Garden pic thread going...
This is kind of a start to finish pic essay...the first pics are from April when we decided to go this route.
So, we decided to go a little bigger on the plant garden now, 22' X 50' which will grow, Snow Peas, Green Beans, Wax Beans, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Bell Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, Roma Tomatoes, and Some Beefsteak type tomato, Beets, Romaine Lettuce, Carrots, White Onions, Yellow Onions, Jalapeno Peppers and Eggplant. Then further down back on the hill, I am taking out the trees, and bringing in top soil, the hill will be planted in Crook Neck Squash, Butternut Squash, Acorn Squash, Cucumbers, Zuchinni, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Pumpkins Birdhouse Gourds, and at the base Strawberries. Along the post and rail fence we are putting in 75' of Blackberry and Raspberries ( about 25 plants )......I am still scheming to get her to let me till more of the lawn under...

Updating, and what a difference a months worth of work makes.
While we were at it, we put in 75' of Raspberries, Black Raspberries, and Blackberries in. I built trellis' for both the Raspberries and Blackberries out of 4 X 4s. T-Bar Trellis for Raspberries, and 4 wire trellis for the Black Raspberries and the Blackberries.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v86/dj88ryr/Gardening/Blackberrytrellis.jpg
Got the trees down for the vine garden, and hauled in Mushroom Compost and Top soil. Also made a 75' mound along the front of the vine garden for Strawberries. The Cantaloupe and the Cucumbers are going to be trellised, the rest can roam over the mound at will, but some items are bush variety, so that will save some space.

Man, the warm weather and sun have really gotten things into overdrive. We are eating Zuchinni already!! The other vines are doing equally as well, there are already Acorns Squash, Butternut Squash, Crook Neck Squash, Pumpkins and Cucumbers on the vines. Tomatos and peppers are also coming, Broccoli is stuffing the freezer, ...time to start up the downstairs freezer...

So far, my beans have produced 60 pints of canned beans, and 15 pounds of frozen beans.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v86/dj88ryr/Gardening/DSCN0775.jpg
You can no longer go down to the garden with just a basket or plan on carrying in your hands. Everything is in overdrive, I spent all day between the garden and the kitchen sink and either the freezer or vacuum packager.
First trip yielded 6 1/2 gallons of Roma tomatoes, and several dozen big boys.
Next was packaging broccoli for the freezer.
Then the vine garden...........

Yes AWESOME Garden!!!!! Everything looks great! Let me ask you something, the last pic of the "twin" yellow squash, do you keep it, or use it to eat? My husband told me while I was picking squash from our garden this summer when they get bright yellow like this then throw it away, says that the "flesh" is too hard to eat. Is this right?
I sure threw a lot of it over the fence that looked like this, my first year of gardening, so I have TONS of questions, just trying to learn from experience....
And I want to try the straw in the garden this fall, our spring garden got so overtaken with weeds and as big as our garden is, it was very hard for me to keep weeded by myself. Thankfully the end of this summer, we had family move out here with us and her husband helped me with a lot of it.
Another question, about the berries you planted, did you plant with seed? I bought plants at Lowes (hardware store) and the plants were like $10/piece. I could only afford to buy 5 of them, and that was when they went on sale. I would LOVE to grow along our fence line, which is really long of berries like you did! And I love the cross post you put up for the berries to vine on, great idea!
You are a very hard worker and I'm glad to see it's paying off for you!
I also need to get a good tiller like you have, the one my DH has must have come over on the Mayflower, a front tine tiller, and it's terribly hard for me to control. He said we need a rear tine tiller, that it's easier to operate and I could do it myself. I think I lost his interest in helping me in the garden. Thinking about calling our local equipment rental store and see if they have one I can rent....
LOVE the pics, keep them coming!

Southerngirl,
You'll be amazed at the difference in the light weight front tine tillers and the heavier rear tine tillers.
I've had my rear tine for about 10 years now and wouldn't trade it for nothing.
... and that is a nice garden.

Thank you all for the kind words, it does make you sore and tired, but I don't look at it as work, I can spend all day out there from sun to sun and be perfectly content. The first couple years I did the beds of flowers all around the house,in the front and side yards, after getting that finished I had a blank canvas out back and had been devising the plan ( it changed and grew over time ) for a couple of years, so when it became time to actually act, it went pretty smoothly as it had been thought to death in my head.:D
Southerngirl, I let that double crook neck get a lot bigger than what I normaly eat, usually I pick them at about 6-8 inches. We grill both them and Zuchinni to have with steaks and burgers. So I am not sure how tough that one is, it definetely got a lot darker yellow than the ones we eat.
