OK OK this is pretty simple but it's the simple things that makes life fun. When stacking buckets , round or square , put a small piece of just about anything over the edge of the bucket where the biggest part hangs inside the bucket. So when you put one bucket inside the other it will not create a vaccume/suction. If you have ever tried to seperate to buckets that have sealed together, it's almost impossible to do so.

Agree about simple things making life fun. :) I've fought with those buckets, too. Another trick is to put a small block of wood in the bottom before stacking another bucket. The "block of wood" can be anything that's handy to maintain separation.
I like your idea, too. First time I've heard that one, but it sure makes sense. Now, I'm wondering if draping some folded newpaper over the rim, while sliding in the next bucket would help.

That is a good idea.
I generally just go for the brute force approach and rip them apart, accompanied with much wailing and gnashing of teeth. What a pain that is.
Instead of just trying to pull them apart, give them a twist as you pull, that breaks the seal so they come apart easier...

and this should be an appreciated life experience - what better opportunity for one to wonder at the remarkable ability of torn-away fingernails to heal -
...not to mention the chipped teeth from all the gnashing going on.
