Thought I would say hello to everyone,
Found this website about a week ago and finally registered. I live in NE Georgia I have some land there mostly wooded that I live on. My long term plans are to become as close to self sufficient as possible.(Have allot to learn and do to make that possible) I currently drive a truck for a living (OTR) so time at home to do get things done is pretty limited. Look forward to talking with everyone.

Welcome, jasperg. You've come to the right place for a lot of learning and sharing. Just pull up a chair and set a spell whenever you've a mind to or the time.

Welcome!

It's good to have that goal even though your time is limited, right now, to work on it. But, you may actually have more time than you think. :)

During your down time when away from home, pull out your DIY "Homestead Plans" notebook to jot down a few more ideas. Stash a couple of books on any subjects of interest under the seat. While you're waiting for a new load, read a bit more.

And.... you have more opportunity than most to pick up small things (maybe even bigger ones, depending on what you haul) to add to your "stash for the future". Check the local newspapers want ads in the towns and cities that you visit. When I worked at a local flea market, we often had big rig drivers stop to take a quick look-around. (We were on a main highway with a good pull off.)

Good luck with your plans. Do jump into the conversations, ask questions, share advice, or simply let us know how you're doing.
