A lady on craigslist had over 100 5 gal. food grade buckets with lids for $2 each.
Do you think this is a good deal? She said I could buy any amount that I wanted. It's quite a drive to get them, about an hour away, so if I went after them it would be for a large amount and put in the stock trailer to bring them home. Just wondering what the rest of you are paying for these buckets? Thanks!

I have seen them going in stores for over $5 - Home Despot, Lowe's, etc. You can get them for free in some places - bakeries, etc. but my experience is the supply is anything but reliable. They are handy for a variety of chores around the house - compost/kitchen waste collection, water, feed - anything that needs a container. I have old ones I use to fetch water from the creek. If it was near me, I'd be good for a bunch of them.

That is a fair price, IMO. Sometimes I get them for free, but the bakery here is now charging $2 a piece for them, but they are washed really well, which is sometimes worth the price as when I get them free, they have lots of dried icing stuck in them.

they sell for a buck here at the IGA Deli. small size for 50 cents. I thought that was high. I wouldnot drive an hr to get plastic buckets. start looking at restaurants and bakeries first.

Today, DH got a call from the local Bi-Lo grocery store to pick up 5-gallon buckets from the Deli after I left my name and our phone number there last week. He got there and they gave him six 5-gallon buckets FREE with the lids.
