I could use some advice on building a new chicken house. There use to be a railroad track behind my house and there is what we call a "holler" back there. There is a small creek which is fed by drain ditches from a mile away which I guess the county dug years ago. During the winter or anytime of heavy rainfall this holler floods. The water never stays there for more than a day. What I want to do is build a chicken house off the edge of the hill up on pilings, or whatever you call them, and have the run on level ground. What would I need to make the pilings with. I have some cedar post. Would they work or do I need to do something else? Ya'll help me figure this thing out. The main reason for doing this is room. I don't have a lot of room and that would take up less space.
