Anybody have any experience with a DPMS LR308? The version i'm looking at is the AP4 M4 with a collapsible stock. Any suggestions on after market magazines? Any info would be muchly appreciated.

They pretty much have the market cornered on their own magazines, I recommend sticking with them and using them for reliability's sake. Don't try to use Armalie mags, they do not interchange.

My buddy has a LRT-SASS in his collection and said he loves it. He said he's found it to be accurate for a semi auto. As for mags I know he's using DPMS only. He told me he picked up some brand and the 3rd rd thru it, it jammed, which had never happened before with the factory mags.

I'm thinking about picking one up at some point when I save up enough. It's not cheap, that's for sure. Something to give a longer range fast follow up capability.

Very nice weapons, the one I fired turned out some nice tight groups and the gun was built very solid. Right now as the others have said it looks like DPMS has a lock on the magazines, but you always have to keep an eye out for others coming on the market.

That magazine issue is my only problem with the AR10 system. There is no commonality and if we suffer another AWB the mags you need may be a single source item and that means a benjamin plus per just ask anyone who owns a Galil .308 (like me)

Someone made an AR10 which accepted FAL mags but that was only in production for about 2 years or so. That's the only AR10 I'd consider buying because of MAG supply 120_ sources hundreds of millions in circulation.

If you can afford to buy an abundant supply of magazines plus a good set of spare parts, its a definite advantage to stick with a design with huge production and wide distrivution.

None of which the AR10 or M14 has.

Now I am speaking from the perspective of a long term (1970s) 3 gun competative shooter and a 25+ year professional shootist. Magazines DO break speings DO weaken followers DO fail.

Many aftermarket magazines or of less than sterling quality, a couple of years ago I bought a dozen AR15 30rd magazines from a well-established manufacturer and a global distributer to try out for a possible quantity buy for my stash. On the arrival I removed 2 of the twelve and proceeded to load them by hand, the feed lips broke off on the first inder the tension of the spring and 16 rounds and the second at 19 rounds.

There are many people who beleive that three spare mags will be all they will ever need to them I say God Bless and Best of Luck!

I just read thaT ROCK RIVER BUILDS their vAR10 ckones to use the cheap and plentiful FAL, mteric or inch interchangeably. This means mags of 5 10 20 30and soon 100rd (Beta C drum) capacity are plentiful and very inexpensive. You should give it a look.

I have such a huge supply of FAL mags, it's what I'd run with.
