Bear fat for soap making

well, we finally bagged the bear that was eating my chickens! 60 birds down, and us scrambling up the hill, guns in hand, always a second too late. Now I have a ton of bear fat. I like using lard for soap making. Anyone know if I can use bear fat the same way as I use lard? Also, anyone rendered bear fat before?

I've never soaped bear fat, but I've been given soap that used it. You can find bear fat in the lye calcualtor at ww.soapcalc.com
