I had pigs before as some of you might remember, but always had trouble with them getting out. So bad that I had to sell them all.
I miss having pigs, and want them back. Anyone got any suggestions on how to construct a pen that will keep them in. Electricity only kind of worked, they would root dirt on the bottom wire and short it out, and if I put it up too high, they just burrowed under it. Nothing but storing them in a cattle trailer worked. I'm seeing a lot of them for sale for 40$ a piece right now, and I want to get in on it!

We had pigs years ago. Used a triple layer of hot wire to try to keep them in. They escaped of course. One of their favorite places to go at 3a.m. was the neighbors place... especially to dig up the septic tank. Next favorite spot was under the house and under my bedroom was most favored. The only place they didn't escape from was the freezer!!

Last year we raised 'em in a horse stall...yuck-and smelly. *This year, we used hog wire fencing to enclose a large area on a hillside, then cut large sections of myrtle and alder trees and placed them on the inside and outside of the fence, lengthwise, to form a barrier. *So far, no escapes or even trying to escape, and it's been three weeks. *Of course, I think having the large area for them to play and root in helped...

Thanks for the pics. I have this week off from school and I may construct a small pig pen for the purpose of containing two pigs securely, and then start working on a larger pen so that I can let them out into a larger area.
If I could get them tame enough to follow me and do as I tell them, I would put them out to pasture in an electric fenced area, then call them into their pen in the evenings so that they can be penned during the night and when I am not here to turn them out into their larger area.
