View Full Version : 8N vs. Massey Ferguson

We have a tractor budget of about $3,000 or less, for a tractor and mower, and maybe a blade. I was thinking originally about an 8N, because the parts are so readily available. We even saw a radiator for an 8N sitting in the local Tractor Supply Co.

But I've heard comments here about the Ferguson being just as good or better than the 8N. Can someone tell me about the part availability for the Massey Ferguson? It sure looks similar to the 8N. I'm currently contemplating a TO30.

Thanks,
Sally

I'm going to say pass both of those up, and look for a Massey 130 or 135... In a Ford, look for a 2000 or 3000. Then you will have a reliable tractor that will do eveything "most" homesteaders will ever want to do.

I've got a 1950's something T-30 Massy and she sports an overhead cam, consequently with the additional power output she will out perform any 8N I've ever worked with.

Agreed and well said! These choices hands down over an 8N. The 8N was and still is a great tractor for its time but there are new and much better tractors with much more user friendly features in this price range.

Well, I do see Massey parts for sale online, so its parts might be fairly available...
