About ten months ago I bought one of those 1853 Enfields from IMA that were found in Nepal (they were only a couple of hundred bucks). My neighbor looked at it and said it was in decent mechanical condition, so maybe it'll be alright to shoot once I get it all cleaned up. I haven't seen it yet, seeing as how I've been in the middle east for about eleven months. Due to rotate home next month.
My question is this- how in the world can I clean out the barrel on the thing? Word has it that some of those nepal rifles are still loaded- so cleaning out the barrel properly is a big priority. I bought it as a wall hanger, not a shooter, so if I can't shoot it, no big deal. But if possible, I will shoot it once or twice. Any help you guys could give me would be appreciated.

Blow out any charge it might have safely with this.

Hey,

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll try out one of those air pistols when I get back. But wouldn't an air compressor work too? Just curious.

The CO2 is better because nothing can ignite from compression or friction, the CO2 smothers it.
